I didn’t have a problem with the staff or the environment. The food, however, was surprisingly bad. This was our first time and the ratings looked fine. We were picking up lunch on a Saturday to take to a family thing. I’m adding a picture of my chicken sandwich. As you can see, I tried to salvage it with ranch dressing. It was like smoke flavored saw dust. I think the chicken was possibly overcooked in the beginning and definitely reheated too many times. The other orders, including the pork sandwich, were exactly the same: no sauce, no seasoning, and dry and crumbly like sawdust. Our sides included beans, potato salad, and slaw. The beans were good, the slaw tasted like it was just plain mayo and onion, and the potato salad had to be boiled potatoes with some ranch stirred in. We were so hungry and ate what we could, but it was very disappointing.

The service we received was great, the lady was so kind. The food good but the quantity was disappointing (and this came from a very picky 7 year old.) It was her 1st time eating here and when she opened her box, she looked at me and said “Mom, what is this? This won’t even fill me up” I paid $22.11 for a little bit of cheese fries.

First time visiting. I got the St. Louis ribs and fried green tomatoes. Oh my gosh, the ribs where so tender and the perfect smokiness. I used the sweet BBQ sauce and it was just fantastic. The fried green tomatoes were nice and thin and perfectly crisp and not too sour. The white sauce went wonderfully with the tomatoes. I will definitely be back next time I’m in Childersburg.

Loved this little restaurant. I had the catfish filet and my husband had the pulled pork. Both were delicious. The menu is large for such a small restaurant with all the southern comfort foods. The service is prompt and friendly. I will definitely be back.

I don’t know if it would be possible to find a more aptly named place. Everything about it was the quintessential small-town diner that still cranks out honest food for the home folks who haven’t left it behind. Nothing was new here, but it felt comfortable.

They say their barbecue is cooked on hickory wood, and the chopped pork didn’t make me doubt that. I generally prefer pork to be pulled, but theirs was done well enough to make it enjoyable. It still needed some sauce to moisten it though. Fortunately they had an adequate one.

Their brisket was another story. It didn’t have a big smoke flavor, but the biggest issue was that it seemed to have been reheated and consequently was pretty dried out. The thin slices didn’t help in that regard either.

The sides were where they really shone. We supplemented the 2 meat platter we shared (which was enough for the 2 of us) with fried okra and potato salad. The potato salad was definitely homemade, and the okra might have been as well. Both were as well done as any I’ve had.

This was definitely an enjoyable meal, though the meats left a little to be desired. To be fair, they also offer a wide selection of burgers and other items on their menu so they aren’t only a barbecue place. This wouldn’t be a destination visit, but if you’re passing through and looking for a home style meal, you will probably be satisfied here.

Quaint little place with amazing food!
*Updated with new photos from today* my team and I (ROTN reviews) stop by here quite frequently and the food is always perfect. Pictured is their famous ‘tater bombs which I could not wait to dig into. They’re key lime pie with raspberry drizzle, and the potato soup with a grilled cheese.
This place is always super clean with top notch friendly staff.

We decided to try this place due to reviews. My family loved it. Good portions. The staff was amazing with my overly excited and exhausted kids. We ordered two bbq plates with baked beans, potato salad, okra and corn nuggets. DELICIOUS. The kids got their traditional kids meals and ate it all. Everything was clean and food came out in decent time. When we visit the area again we will be back.
