The “Homesteader” to me sounds like it would be a very American style meat and potatoes kinda restaurant but the menu here has 3 distinct sections. American, of course like you’d expect, but also Asian and Mexican, Mexican being something every restaurant in this area seems to have on their menu (Mexican food ONLY SERVED ON WEDNESDAY). So, lots of variety! I did go American on the first visit and tried their Homesteader Burger. The burger was good, price was a good value for the meal.

Service was good and food came out in a reasonable amount of time.

The family that owns this is Asian so I’m kinda dying to try something from that part of the menu. I will be back in this area next week and my goal will be to try an item from all three sections of their menu and update my review.

**Update** I did make it back and tried the Kung Pao Combo with fried rice! Really really good! Great portion size! Next time I’m in town on a Wednesday, I’ll try something from the Mexican menu.

This place is pretty much what you’d expect for a small town mom and pop shop restaurant, very cozy. Not many choices of places to eat in Gregory, SD but I’m glad the Homesteader is out there to feed a hungry traveler such as myself with a nice quality meal.

This was definitely worth the stop.
I had the Triple Delight, steak, chicken and shrimp with veggies “and they were perfectly cooked” with a side of fried rice. Also had a homemade chicken egg roll that was as big as my fist with a delicious homemade sweet and sour sauce. Never had a chicken egg roll before it was delicious.
They also have American food
I wouldn’t have thought by the name that they had Asian food.
Glad they did.

Hope you aren’t thirsty, refills are rarely offered. The food is ok
Prime rib was no frills, needs spices on the exterior. Our waitress Friday was stressed and unfriendly, Monday our waitress was good at avoiding us. Opening weekend of pheasant season should require additional staff.

Fantastic local family owned & operated restaurant established in 1995. Enjoy their full service bar & pool table all week then order the delicious prime rib special Friday & Saturday.

Joany (sorry if mispelled) is a wonderful person with a great attitude and a magnificent spirit that lights up the place with great vibes. The cook, her beautiful grandmother does wonders with her hands and has lovely beautiful eyes. The food is magnificent (especially the asian food) very delicious salmon, great hot wings, and the restaurant has lots of great features like a pool table, small casino, private dining tables for the romantic couples, and a very nice bar fully stocked.

Stopped here while deer hunting, had a fantastic large (16oz) ribeye and hash browns. Also had the turtle cheese cake. All of the food was fantastic, I’ve had ribeyes from all over and this is top notch!! Friends had burgers and fries and said they were great! Be sure to stop here and try this!

We went for the Chinese. The crab rangoon were good but small. The chinese meals were very bland. The fried food meals were good for the kids.

A very nice place to eat with a broad selection of food to choose from. I wasn’t very sure what kind of place it was from the reviews, but I was interested in finding out. They boast being a steakhouse, but they offer so much more than that. They have a wide variety of eastern food such as fried rice which was very delicious. So if you find yourself rolling through the area, I recommend stopping by for some excellent fried chicken, and some great fried rice.

My husband and I had dinner here after I Google someplace to eat. Read the reviews on the food. I tried the triple delight with vegetables. It was delicious. My husband had a double bacon burger, which he said was very good as well. You won’t go wrong stopping here to eat. Enjoy, we did.
