✨✨✨a hidden gem✨✨✨
this homestead is homestyle, home cooked, home feeling goodness and we can’t get enough. the staff is so kind and inviting. the atmosphere is warm, like you’re stepping into your grandmothers house and the food like you’re ALSO eating at your grandmothers.
we haven’t tried lunch yet BUT it always sounds so delicious. the breakfast is chefs kiss the Monroeton monster is huge but a “try everything” situation, the fried chicken biscuit is the best I’ve ever had – fried lightly and perfectly, seasoned with care… I’m drooling writing this.
also worth it’s own spotlight: the biscuits.
FLUFFY. BUTTERY. PERFECTION.
only open two days of the week, they have take home meals and a small market with homemade chicken salad, pimento cheese, soups. frozen biscuits and sausage gravy.
run, don’t walk.
it’s our new favorite spot.

Headstead Kitchen was a locally owned breakfast and lunch restaurant. We got the fried chicken sandwich and a side house salad. The chicken sandwich was very good and the salad had a lot of vegetables in it. The meal was great for the price. The owner walked around and spoke to all the customers. It was a great experience.

Are you looking for healthy, tasty, elevated home cooking? This is your place. I had the vegetable soup which was fresh and savory, corn, tomatoes, squash, collard greens, Black eyed peas….and more. The BLT was piled with bacon and fresh tomatoes on crispy bread. My only regret is that this place is about 200 miles from my home. (Note they are only open on Fridays and Saturdays.)

Homestead is such a great breakfast spot! We have gone at least half a dozen times, and it’s totally worth the trip from Greensboro! The Monroeton Monster is a breakfast big enough to share, and all the seasonal options are delicious! Ingredients are locally sourced, and this is an awesome local business to support. Mike is a phenomenal chef, and Steph makes you feel so welcome! It’s a great meet-up place and kid friendly! There are take out options and a cute little shop inside!

Our first time here, staff was very friendly and the food was Delicious! It tasted so Real! Pasture raised eggs, ham, bacon, onions, and other deliciousness made my husbands omelet($9) and my biscuits & gravy($5.50) were Phenomenal! The sausage($3) was also very good! We got orange juice($3) and an Arnold Palmer($3 for 1/2 lemonade, 1/2 sweet tea!) were very good! We both finished our entire meal and felt full, satisfied, and had energy to still go have a great day instead of feeling bloated or like we needed to nap. We will Definitely be coming back! Got a mini triple chocolate trifle dessert($1) to try when we got home and it was Very good!

Enjoyed a lovely lunch here while in the area for a wedding. The staff were super friendly and the food was amazing. We liked the fried chicken sandwich, brisket sandwich, and BLT. The potato salad was also very good. We also enjoyed perusing their local market section and took home a homemade chocolate trifle, which made a delicious dessert for later. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for yummy food and friendly folks 🙂

If you haven’t stopped in here yet you are missing out!! Cute place, with a down home vibe and PHENOMENAL food! Family owned and operated local business is a plus as well! I had the fried chicken biscuit sandwich* which is absolutely out of this world! Delicious crumbly biscuit that is perfectly buttery and seasoned with Rosemary butter! *fried chicken biscuit not pictured – I forgot to take a picture of mine because it was that delicious. Took a picture of the biscuit sandwich the gentleman next to me ordered for size reference.

Absolutely delicious! My 3 year old toddler and I stopped in for breakfast and he ate almost an entire plate of eggs, bacon and sausage and a whole bacon biscuit. The portions were generous but it was so “nummy” he kept asking for more and more. Highly recommed the biscuits and the jelly and the sweet tea. So good!
