Great spot! The Homer’s special was a classic burger with fresh ingredients. The sweet potato fries and onion rings were just the right amount of crispy. Homer’s has been around since 1931, relocated in 1938, and renovated in the 1960s so it has that classic Americana feel. They also serve the soda infused with a flavour of your choice (e.g., cherry, vanilla). Customer service was also great. I would recommend upgrading the sign with some lights as it’s easy to miss. Highly recommend!!

I don’t know if this place is considered a diner, a drive-in, or a dive, but what I do know is that it scratched a serious hamburger itch.

The burger is best described as a “Ron Swanson” type burger (Google it). It’s simple, effective, and delicious. You can add toppings or not—it’s great either way. The crinkle-cut fries were hot, crispy, and delicious! No notes, other than the fact that I want more.

The pie might turn some of you off, but for me, it provided a hit of nostalgia that made me love it more than I expected. Have you ever had Jell-O chocolate pudding made from the box? It tastes exactly like that. It threw me all the way back to being eight years old at my grandmother’s house. That pudding made in a bowl is infinitely better than the pre-packaged cups. That is what’s in this pie, and it’s great. If I lived closer, I’d have taken a whole one home with me.

Loved it. Hated to leave it. We’ll be back as soon as O can.

This little diner is my favorite place to eat here in Leavenworth. The prices are unbeatable. If they branched out and had Doordashers deliver, they would most definitely need to open up another diner. I would gladly pay extra to have these meals delivered. I love it there. I’m about to place an order to go pick up. (I ate here yesterday.)

Homer’s classic was easily the best burger I’ve had in the Leavenworth and even greater Kansas City area. Apple pie ala mode was also excellent. Service was very fast, friendly and professional. The inside doesn’t appear to have been redecorated in several decades, but I love classic diner charm!

This is the best they get, and it’s pushing it.

Customer Service = TERRIBLE and LACK OF COMMUNICATION

Let’s just say we had to lead the way to order. Waitress first brought us menus and waters that have been SITTING OUT on their counter for who knows how long before we walked in. She also didn’t ask us about anything at that moment, like if we would like a drink, had any questions or anything for that matter… when she was ready for us to place an order, she walked over and stared at us later like we were just supposed to know what she wanted. We knew she was waiting for us to order as she held her guest sheet and pen in her hand for orders without asking us. We had questions, and she seemed like she didn’t even want to answer it because we should know or something.

Atmosphere – if you like Coca-Cola, they have plenty of decor, and it’s cool!

Food – It was meh. The burger wasn’t terrible, and the fries were plain as plain could get and seemed slightly undercooked.

Restrooms- TINY

Will we return or suggest it to others? Absolutely NOT!

Sides come separately for those who still decide to go. My girlfriend and I shared a side of fries and ordered our own burger. The burgers came out well done, as I would’ve ordered it but she didn’t ask how we would like it cooked, so be sure to tell them when ordering since they don’t ask anything themselves.

Small place, seemed pretty popular. I was hoping the food would be more quality, I feel like I could’ve made both the burger and fries at home. Definitely tasted like frozen fries you throw in the oven. Nice staff.

Hole in the wall with a delicious burger and fries. Shake was great too. One waitress but she was excellent! Definitely recommend if you’re passing thru.

I was very disappointed with the product we got considering there were so many wonderful reviews on this place. The quality of food we received was NOT worth $40. I first pulled out a grilled cheese for my child, and the sandwich was wrapped in a parchment like paper and it was dripping in grease from the inside. My hand was also slathered in it. Got two bacon cheeseburgers, one a double and one regular. One was literally leaking condiments, juice, and grease. The other was barely constructed, and all the buns were super soggy. The burgers were the thinnest I’ve ever seen, and it had almost no flavor. I felt like I was eating mustard and bread. The bacon had zero flavor and was chewy. The fries were not salted and also had no flavor, and the onion rings were plain at best. I got a chocolate cream pie and with the first bite it tasted spoiled. It was also obvious that the pie was either imported or baked and frozen to thaw because the crust was soggy and fell apart. On an ending note, the milkshakes were great. We got a chocolate, vanilla, and banana. The staff were nice, the milkshakes were good, but in my opinion McDonald’s burgers taste better.

Love a good breakfast and Homer’s Drive In does it right. All of the normal breakfast staples and no complaints about any of what we ordered. Pancakes are the same taste and texture as McDonald’s. Not a huge place so don’t bring a large group.

5 stars in all categories!
5 years later and the atmosphere is still very cozy! The service is refreshing and relaxed – I love seeing people’s coffee mugs being filled by the waitress walking around with a coffee pot. The Coca-Cola decor and red benches and checkered floor are cute and nostalgic.
The food is hot, delicious, and filling! The hashbrowns aren’t as crispy as I like, but they were fully cooked and still delicious. I asked for white gravy with the biscuit and it came in a seperate bowl so i could choose my portion – delicious! The hot cocoa is very sweet and comes in a cute mug. The three-cheese omelet I got I could add anything I wanted (for extra charge) – I chose mushrooms, onions, green peppers, and bacon. The cheese wasn’t melted as much as I usually prefer but the flavors were so good I didn’t care!

“9am, Saturday: Plenty of parking, no crowds, and an atmosphere that is cozy and relaxed.
The waitress was kind, and personable. The food was great, and good portions. The decor was cute, vintage, and stylish (think Cola brands).”
