This is the best they get, and it’s pushing it.

As the sign says, old school . This place took me back to my younger years when my dad took me to our local hamburger place. Decor is like the show ( Happy Days ). I ordered the Homer classic with onion rings , and my wife ordered the bacon and cheese and fries. The patties are old school. They are made locally and delivered chilled, not frozen. So if you want an authentic hamburger give this place try.

The burgers are okay. Their chili just tasted like meat and beans that was dried out. We think it would be better on top of a hot dog, I did try it on my burger, which helped the chili, just not the burger. The fries I think were baked (which is fine), not fried cause they weren’t crispy but mushy and moist. The onion rings were pretty good. I got a chocolate shake, which was just cheap chocolate ice cream (you know it has a certain taste) that was melted and poured in a glass. But our waitress was nice and we liked the Coca-Cola theme. But would we go back not when our bill was almost $50.00 and we could have gone somewhere else for that price and had gotten a steak. But we had to try it. We also got the coconut and the chocolate cream pie, my husband eat his when we got back to the hotel and i eat mine later. He didn’t feel well a few hours later, now i wish i hadn’t eaten mine, not feeling the best. Hope if you try this place, you’ll have a better experience.

Homer’s is a classic “greasy spoon,” a real slice of Americana. It’s not a real cat, but it’s about the size of one, making it the perfect diner. The building is seemingly as old as dirty, and that’s what makes it a local institution right beside the road. Get there for breakfast.

Biscuits and gravy was far most the worst I ever had. Gravy has no seasoning tasted straight like flour then they used fake sausage patties and didnt even chop it up and it was burnt. This has been the worst experience in breakfast from here in 20 years. They need to take more pride in cooking there food and bringing it back to the way it use to be. Make your own biscuits they use to be 3 inches wide and 2 inches thick not 1.5 inches wide and half in thick. For onw of the Leavenworth only remaining restaurant they need to reevaluate before they loose customers.

I’ve been a Homer’s customer for over 50 years. Believe me I know what their food used to taste like. Changes they’ve made in the last few years have kept me away. Against my better judgement I decided to go thru the drive thru and this is what I got: cold, limp fries, medium warm cheeseburger and a Vanilla Coke that was more soda water than anything else. The waitress just said Oh sorry that’ll be $12.00. The sad thing is they also own Nu-Way and have made changes there too. I won’t be back to either establishment.

Portions are generous for the prices. I got a chicken fried steak and it came with mashed potatoes, potato salad, and toast. Flavor on the salad was amazing, however I wasn’t fond of the brown gravy due to the over saltiness. Imagine swallowing a teaspoon of salt while drinking water. The feel of the Sahara desert. I apologize but that’s how I felt. The chicken fried steak alone was delicious tho I recommend it. I retracted one star due to waitress stating that the gravy is supposed to be that salty. I originally thought it was an accident, apparently it’s supposed to dry your mouth on purpose

I ordered a double hamburger, onion rings, and an unsweet tea. The server asked if I wanted a single large patty or two small patties.
