After my previous review and the kind response from the establishment explaining the reason for the difference in time for opening… I decided to revisit Home Run to see if it was worth the drive. Upon entering the location I was greeted with a smiling young lady who was very helpful in answering my question and taking the order. Great old school 80s music playing as I waited which wasn’t long! The pizza was actually very reasonably priced and well put together I must say. The taste was amazing well balance of sauce and cheese on a thin crust baked to perfection. So I’m man enough to admit I was hasty in my 1st review and can also admit Home Run is definitely a hit! Will be back when I’m on that side of town again
We fell in love with the owners & their family. They seem to be adorned by the awesome culture that is Oak Cliff.
When you want pizza, wings, & breadsticks that will make you drooling for more, go there to Jefferson & give them a holler.
Customer service is absolutely top notch. The owners truly care about each person who comes in and serve with passion.
I was excited to try the pepperoni pizza which is always a great indicator of the pizza quality. However, the pizza was the only thing that fell short. The quality of the ingredients (sauce, pepperoni and cheese) are not there. The dough was pretty good but really needed to have some crunch. It may be because I had to wait to get home 20 minutes before eating it but the crust and undercarriage was just tough versus crunchy. For me, I need more sauce and some higher quality pepperoni.
The oven is the conveyor belt style like Dominos so there is limitations on the crust that a fire wood oven brings. Honestly, if the team brought in some higher quality ingredients I think the love and passion they put into pizza making would elevate the pizzas; however, the prices would need to increase some to compensate which I believe there is room to do.
Overall, I loved talking to the owners and the wings were great. The pizza was not my style but for the price it was worth the trip. While the flavor may not be for me, I would say it’s worth a try!
