Only black hot tea, no hot herbal tea’s offered.
Very expensive for a casino very smal resturant. Needs a remodel with fryers and ventilation.
Besides I recommend since most of it is fryed please switch to beef tallow that will add a rich savory flavor and it has a high smoke point. Better for high-heat frying. As well better for heart health. Beef tallow is stable and produces very crispy results with the food. Europe uses beef tallow. And the owner is the same owner who owns Chamonix as Branco Billy’s is Full House Resorts.
Now they have a pecan pie for sale. Very expensive. Never tasted anything like it. That deserves 5*
To bad they do not sell it in Colorado Springs. The best pecan pie ever. Hope the baker gets payed well.
Review update June 2025: While the food here is usually pretty good, that means nothing when the wait staff is so ill trained that they are pushing the trash down with their hands in plain view of customers and not washing them after. It’s a gross impression to think food is being served/ handle after. Playing with your pigtails, putting on chapstick. Standing/ leaning on the food line waiting for food and picking at your hands fingers, also unacceptable – All things that should not be done in front of customers or at all in a restaurant environment especially when serving the food. My complaints with the Home Cafe consistently remain in regard to the lack of training and professional at this establishment. There are only a handful of waitstaff I’d trust here. But if this restaurant cannot implement professionalism front of house, it leaves wonder as to how back of house is operating as well. I spoke to the restaurant manager on duty, the casino floor manager was and referred to speak to another and will reach out and some point.
But really guys this is going from bad to worse quick.
Review update, 7 months after initial review:
Eaten here quite a few times since my initial review and the food quality is not consistent. Our waitress Kim was outstanding, she took great care of us and attentive to needs. The food was good overall on this visit. But again, has not been consistent over these past few months.
We had a 35 min wait this time. As we waited we could see into the kitchen where you could observe a very frustrated cook, that didn’t leave a good impression as we wait to be sat. But my biggest pet peeve? The manager you thought it was sanitary to keep the “checkbook/ order pad” tucked into the back of his pants. I would have brought it to his attention but quite frankly he’s the manager he should know that is not sanitary. I don’t care if your underwater have been washed, he’s handling that order pad and then handling/ delivering food to tables without washing his hands in between. It is all about perspective. I perceive this as unsanitary. He needs to wear a half apron like the rest of the staff and set a proper sanitary example. Regardless of how great Kim is, the unfortunate placing of the order pad by the manager gets a couple stars removed.
Initial Review (5 stars) Biscuits and gravy fan? Then you will love the biscuits and gravy here. They are the best I’ve had in a while. The biscuits are so soft they practically melt in your mouth. The gravy with the sausage is very well flavored.
The staff is awesome and accommodating.
We asked to make the eggs on our biscuits and gravy plate into an omelette as the entree was being split between 2 people. They were happy to accommodate.
The omelette was outstanding as well. Fluffy eggs filled with mushrooms, cheese and topped with tomato.
We also got a side of the delicious (with a bit of a kick) green chili to put on the omelette too.
We used to come here every time we visited Cripple Creek, but never again. I’ve never experienced such poor service and food!
We ordered two green chilis, one cup and one bowl. The waitress only brought the cup, and when we told her the bowl was missing, she said “oh, ok” and walked away. More than 10 minutes passed, and she still didn’t bring it.
We had also ordered a hamburger and a salad. She finally brought the bowl of chili along with the rest of the food, but by then my husband didn’t even want it anymore—it had been over 20 minutes since I got mine.
My salad had maybe a quarter cup of chicken (as you can see in the photo), and on top of. It, it was cold! The waitress never came by to check if everything was okay or if we needed refills. I had to get up and speak with the manager on duty, who offered to make another salad. I accepted, but it took so long that I eventually went back to the manager to tell her I didn’t want it anymore since my husband had already finished eating.
The waitress never apologized, and neither did the manager. We paid for my husband’s burger and my cup of chili and left.
We used to come here every time we visited Cripple Creek, but never again. I’ve never experienced such poor service!
Our waitress seemed annoyed, didn’t let us finish ordering when she was taking our menus away, and walked away. She was mean and seemed like we were bothering her. The host at the front was kind of standoffish and mean. I like this place but they ruined our dinner. They seemed annoyed that we had our son with us. I’ve been to the cafe plenty of times but I don’t think I’ll be coming back. Management needs to get on everyone about their customer service.
The chicken noodle soup was even worse. Just plain water with pieces of chicken/noodle & veggies thrown in. This was definitely no broth. Once again I had to use salt & pepper to get somewhat of a flavor.
Super friendly service though!
