A very cool old fashioned diner type place. It was of course made famous by The Sopranos shooting the final scene of the show there.
I can see why. It was an old school charm from a time that no longer exists. The service was a bit slow but nothing that ruined my experience or anything.
Most of the menu is classic diner favourites like burgers and sundaes and club sandwiches. They also have an extensive ice cream list. Their prices are pretty reasonable as well.
I opted for a cheesesteak ($11), some onion rings (“best in the state” $4.75) and a soda.
They were both good enough but nothing special. You’re more going for the ambience than the meaning this case. I did see some others order sandwiches that looked great so next time I’ll have to try something new and update the review.
The bathrooms are tiny and old but sort of add to the charm of the place. Especially knowing that’s where the members only guy came from in the famous ending.
All in all I enjoyed my lunch and will be back again to try new things on the menu.
If you’re a sopranos fan this is a must stop! I picked up a tshirt on my way out as well.

One of my favorite places to go when I’m back in the area. The food is always hot and fresh, the ice cream is delicious, and the atmosphere is exactly what you expect. I always get the cheesesteak with onion rings and a duster sundae. The cheesesteak is not the most traditional but it is my favorite place to get one and the onion rings come out piping hot and super crunchy. The wait staff are very nice and attentive, 10/10 vibes.

My friends & I just were here two nights ago!
We were visiting NYC from Kentucky.
We decided to take a break from the city and explore NJ.
I’m a huge Sopranos fan so I had to stop here.
We loved every bit of it and was probably one of my favorite things from my trip.
I don’t remember the waitresses name but she was great! She was super sweet and took really good care of us!
The burger and onions rings were good.
I also had to get some ice cream which was great as well.
If I ever catch myself back in the area, I will stop here again!

One of our favorite spots for not only great diner-like food but the homemade ice cream and candy shop are next level and adds such a great touch. I love the old school feel, it makes you feel at home. Don’t forget to look at their specials menu on the wall too! This place has stood the test of time for a very good reason! Plus we’re huge Sopranos fans that makes this place a little extra special!

The place is cute and the staff is friendly. Everyone keeps recommending the onion rings, but I opted for a banana split with smores and pumpkin pie flavored ice cream. Very delicious. The decor is cutesy with stuffed animals everywhere, but they also have framed photos of this bald guy for some reason. Was he a restaurant regular? Everyone was enamored by the booth next to the bathrooms as well, it was very strange. It was the only booth with a jukebox, but I’ve never seen people clamoring to sit next to the bathrooms. Anyway, good wholesome family vibes. Great local spot for impromptu evening plans.

Best place ever. So delicious ice creams. The service is the best, so very kind and friendly people. Clean tables and restrooms. Beautiful decoration. Definitely the best places in NJ to get an ice cream, delicious food, great value prices, excellent quality & presentation. Obviously i came cause of The Sopranos but i’ll be back.

Took the family here for the first time (we’ve lived in Jersey for nearly 30 years) and this luncheonette should be on every Garden Stater’s bucket list. While not a diner (so you won’t find a review of their Belgian waffle special from me, since they don’t serve breakfast), it is still a nice place to go for special occasions if you don’t live in the area (we are about 25 miles south – which can be 30 – 60 minutes travel by car, depending on Jersey traffic).
Made famous for the last scene in the TV show, “The Sopranos”, we went for the burgers and more importantly the fact that it is a candy and ice cream shop, too. Everything was really good, staff very friendly and helpful, and we were even randomly lucky to be seated in that very booth.
While we are not Soprano’s super-fans, the booth was a plus – something to make the other family members who are Soprano’s fans a bit jealous.
Missing one star for ADA compliance. While I understand that the kitsch appeal is the old-time look (and it is old – started in 1939), still those folks – including kids – who use wheelchairs and walkers cannot enjoy these same things we did, on their own.

What can I say? Holstens is 100/10. This is my favorite burger in North Jersey! Food is always hot, fast and delicious, decor is firmly stuck in a prior decade, staff are always super sweet. Is this gourmet ice cream? No. Is it homemade and perfect and will make you feel like a big kid? YES. I love you Holsten’s, please don’t change a thing.

Came to try out the food as there were many rave reviews. Took a good 1/2 hour after ordering to get our burgers served. The kitchen is within few feet from dining area. Disappointed the burgers & fries were barely warm and the fries weren’t crispy. The ice cream sundae wasn’t bad but we had much better homemade ice cream elsewhere. Prices are affordable but we wouldn’t mind paying more for better quality. However its still worth a visit for the nostalgic decor & the Sopranos had filmed here.
