I’m not a huge fan of German cuisine, but even I could appreciate just how good and authentic this place is. Oh, and they have root beer on tap and it is the BEST root beer I have ever had, maybe will ever have except actually in Germany.
Their desserts were also fabulous, so I’d come back again literally just for root beer and dessert. The cake? Moist but not overly sweet, so delicate and delicious.
My family member who’s been to Germany many times was so excited when we were here, and she raved about how much the food reminded her of her travels there, which was high praise. It’s got all the charm and fun, and gets super busy because it’s the real deal.
There was a German band playing when we went, and it really set the tone for a fun, authentic experience. Many of the staff were dressed in traditional German attire, which added an extra touch of charm and made it feel like a true Bavarian celebration. It does get a little loud—especially if you’re seated toward the back—but it’s all part of the experience. They also offer both indoor and covered outdoor seating options.
Our server, Coral, was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable. The menus look like German newspapers, which is a fun touch, though the prices can be a bit tricky to find at first. Once we ordered, everything came out fresh, hot, and much quicker than expected given how busy they were.
Portions were generous, and every dish we tried was excellent. Overall, great food, great service, and a wonderful atmosphere—I’ll definitely be back!
Started off with the salad, the dressing was refreshing like a tzatziki sauce and had a little vinaigrette tang at the end, beautiful intro, but that bread you could tell they bake it in house, tasted the homemade warm essence of it, excited to see what’s next
Kasespatzel (basically a German Mac n Cheese) was good, the egg noodles had a nice tender texture, and even though the cheese level wasn’t extra sharp or cheesy it was light in a good way, the crispy onions on top is what really set it off
The Chicken Schnitzel was beautifully breaded and fried to the crisp, had some type of cheese sauce on top and white asparagus( this isn’t available all year around, but I’m pretty sure the other flavors of schnitzel are banging as well) paired perfectly with the mac & cheese, had some type of red relish on the side that had a sweet tangy taste, and complemented the dish along with the gravy (a little unsalted but the saltines of the schnitzel was a match). All you need is a 10 ounce beer and you’ll feel a little relaxed, but they have the humongous ones available as well and the German yodeling concert in the background
The German chocolate cake was delicious, the cake itself didn’t have a strong chocolatey taste, but I enjoy the coconut mix and the dollop of chocolate buttercream frosting on top, so in all it wasn’t a bad dessert, would actually get it again if I had a chance to, props to all you wonderful bakers/cooks you did your thing
Located right in the heart of downtown Sanford, I seen a bunch of sandwiches past me that look tasty as well, this is a very good experience
So many options hard to choose
Had the sausage platter ( picked my own)very large with 3 sides. Very tasty and authentic definitely coming back. Plus they has a beer garden and a bakery around the corner.
Service: they are nice and friendly. They are super busy on the weekends so be ready for a wait. They do have a bar next door so have a drink while you wait.
Ambiance: nice big room with tables pretty much jammed near each other so be ready to be close.
I made a reservation a month in advance to celebrate our anniversary. We traveled nearly two hours and arrived about 30 minutes early. After checking in, the hostess spoke with the manager and explained that they were facing nearly an hour-long wait for indoor seating. Because of this, our reservation could not be honored as expected, and we were quoted an additional 45-minute wait. To be fair, both the hostess and our server were extremely apologetic about the situation.
We decided to sit in the bar area, which has open seating and offers the full menu. The service there was excellent, and the food was absolutely fantastic, easily the highlight of the evening.
Because of how good the food was, we may consider coming back. However, we’re still unsure, simply because reservations don’t seem to be honored reliably. That inconsistency makes it hard to plan for a special occasion, even though the food itself was outstanding.
The potato pancakes were divine too. I don’t like any mustard type, but he said that the Wurst I got had a German mustard with it.
The bathroom was pretty clean and smelling nice (at least the male side).
Loved the food, and our waitress. The only thing is that parking can be a bit difficult because is in a downtown area, other than that… Awesome place.
