Hole in the Wall is just steps from the water with both casual indoor & outdoor dining. HITW has taken great care in the design to provide a water view from every seat. They have 8 new boat slips to make coming by water easy. There are 2 public boat ramps right alongside the restaurant and plenty of trailer parking. We provide a casual menu that changes seasonally using fresh produce and seafood. Our kitchen staff prepares recipes from scratch daily. If you want to maximize your day on the water you can pick up your order and be ready to go. We have a full bar serving beer, wine & cocktails, lunch, dinner specials & desserts plus bags of ice and drinks to go.

I’m glad we finally decided to check out this place. The food and service was great. I had the shrimp tacos and the rest of the family had a crab cake sandwich and the chicken avocado sandwich. It was so tasty. The view was great. We will definitely come back. Oysters on the half shell were sold out this time so I have to return.

I arrived a little before 3 PM on Sunday, 3/1/26. At the Gloucester location. I went to the hostess stand and was greeted by the hostess. Shortly after, an older, short, husky man came up as well. An older couple walked in behind me — I had seen them getting out of their car — and he told the hostess to seat them.
I told the hostess that I was there first. She relayed that to him, and he asked how many were in my party. I said one. He responded, “I can’t sit a 1-top over a 2-top,” which I found rude and unprofessional. As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry, I understand managing tables — but acknowledging guests in the order they arrive is basic hospitality.
I decided to leave. As I was walking out, he said, “I can sit you,” but by then the damage was done. First impressions matter. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning.

They are. There for the customer , not just standing around. When asked about other restaurants in the area, they are not afraid of their competition. They are the competition was nice to get feedback on other places around. Make me want to go back. Even just for the view..

Great place. Views are spectacular. Staff is friendly an d food was great. We had the fried pickle spears and peel n eat shrimp. The shrimp was large, fresh and cooked just right. Had a glass of wine then saw they had Perroni(Italian beer) on draft! That’s pretty cool for a little place on the river. Don’t miss this place!!

I’ve been here twice and have really enjoyed it. It’s a small little spot that situated right on the water and it’s just past the bridge entering Gwynn’s Island. It’s a perfect spot for a beer and a nosh. My husband and I decided to visit on the 4th of July. They were busy and as hot as it was, we were very comfortable eating outside on their covered deck. My husband had a cheeseburger with fries….he said it was delicious but “very no frills.” It didn’t come with the usual lettuce tomato, onion, and pickle, so if you want that, i guess you need to ask for it. He said the fries were great. I had the shrimp tacos. Loved them. We also enjoyed an appetizer of onion rings. They were delicious. Service was excellent. This is such a cool little place to check out…especially during the summer months. Good, uncomplicated, fare and great atmosphere.

Ok, let me explain about these photos. The food was so delicious and the fresh aromas just completely distracted me from taking pictures before the food was devoured. Every single dish we ordered was uniquely crafted and just good ol’ wholesome yumminess! The staff was a lot of fun. You didn’t just have service, you had fun, personable people getting your order and bringing you the food. I wanted to order one of everything off the menu! Beer was cold and they always made sure we didn’t have an empty glass. I will be going back again! Oh! I almost forgot! The view of the water was beautiful! Everyone gets to enjoy it too!

We have put our boat over a few times at this location but today was the first day we stopped in to eat. We have twin babies and a toddler, so it can be hectic. From the jump every single staff member was entertaining and interacting with our kids, even some customers as well. The atmosphere is laid back and awesome. Shrimp tacos and crab cake sandwiches were top notch!

My boyfriend and I had a great time at the Hole in the Wall. It has a fun atmosphere with great views. We love the oysters, crab dip and the fried oysters. They also had great drinks. Our server was very friendly. We will be back!
