We came across this nice small Japanese joint while driving past it.
Loved the sushi, and the beef salmon hibachi rice. The serving was big and spicy.
We also tried the Ramen.
The prices were a bit on the pricey side, but given that there is not a lot of Japanese options in town.
Along with the hibachi, we got a side of vegetables. The sauce on it was so goood, we kept having more.

We’ve ordered from Hokkaido Cafe many times but decided to dine in this time. The food was fantastic. Favorite appetizers were crispy chicken and edamame. And you can never go wrong with the sushi and the ramen. There are so many different combinations you’d have to just keep coming back to try them all – which we plan to do. The tonkotsu and shoyu broth options are our favorites. Highly recommend!

Very friendly service. I walked in a bit uncomfortable with what I was going to order. The friendly service changed that right away. I wasn’t rushed and even was able to ask for something not on the menu. I got the UB roll, volcano roll and the food was super fresh and outstanding. We also got the ramen which is awesome as well. We will be back and I recommend to anyone. Likely the best sushi I have had in Buffalo.

i love this place!!! sooo tasty with hearty servings.it doesn’t have that pseudo-fancy sushi grill kind of feel. has a nice, mom-and-pop kind of charm. will definitely come back.

Coming from NYC where sushi/poke spots are of abundance, I was skeptical when someone suggested this spot for lunch. I got the bowl with 2 protein, hubby got their 3 roll lunch special, and we got chicken hibachi to share. For drinks we got passion fruit tea – I love that they put pieces of actual passion fruit in the drink but wayyyy to much syrup. It was too sweet for me (keep in mind that I’m the type of person that gets tea without sugar – so you might enjoy the sweetness!)
We ordered online and it was easy to navigate. I was disappointed with how many toppings we can get – I’m used to getting 8+ or unlimited in NYC. HOWEVER, they gave a hefty amount of the 4 toppings and the amount they give in the entire bowl is very filling. For protein I got their spicy tuna and salmon. The salmon pieces were large/chunky and fresh – the pieces I get in NYC are about half the size, so this was a nice surprise! The spicy tuna was good, but is pre seasoned, so with the dressing it gets a bit salty – I would just get tuna next time.
For the 3 rolls, everything was delicious – the rice on the sushi was nice and thin. Hibachi chicken’s sauce leaked everywhere on the way home – despite the mess, it was also really good and came with a mix of veggies.
All in all, a great quick, sushi spot and would def go back when I’m in Buffalo!

Came back after they had some renovations. How they turned this place around since they started is amazing. I had a great experience when it first opened. I had an even better experience today. The place is so nicely done. I really like that they have great food choices and sell boba with that wasn’t there before. The quality of the food is amazing and so are the workers. Had a Taro milk tea, the taro tasted very authentic. It’s not like cheap powder other places use. The atmosphere here is very nice. It’s a wonderful place. A secret restaurant for Buffalo.

I wanted to try a restaurant that had takoyaki, so my boyfriend and I stopped here for lunch. It was overall a solid, good experience. Ordering was a little bit confusing at first but wasn’t too bad once figuring it out. It was very quiet here when we went and the decor is what I’d call an asian-inspired modern style. Maybe a little bit TOO quiet, but that could just be me.
It wasn’t the absolute best I’ve had, but it’s definitely worth a go around if you’re in the mood for some good Japanese food.

I ordered pickup for the first time here and they said 20 minutes. I showed up on time and they did not even have my order started, I was told a few minutes so I sat down. I watched as they served my to go order to people dining in, obviously confused when nobody took the items. I had to tell them they messed up and they just slid my katsu into a to go container instead of remaking it. They then had to remake my other two items that they already served to other people. I sat there for 30 minutes watching my katsu curry getting soggier and colder by the minute on their countertop. No refund, no sense of urgency to remedy the mistake. By the time they finished my order the katsu curry was basically leftovers being plated, replated, and just allowed to sit. Food was okay, would’ve probably tasted better not needing a microwave, but for the unprofessional service alone I wouldnt recommend.
