Now I know why this Los Alamitos staple has been around for so long. It’s a fantastic eatery and I am sad I don’t work nearby anymore. From the ambiance to the food and amazing customer service. Every aspect is great.
The retro 50s vibes make you feel like you’re transported back in time. The updated new building with the full bar is beautiful. Amazing hospitality throughout as well.
I ordered the seasonal waffle griddle combo, the seasonal fruit was strawberries and they were sweet and unctuous. Even the over medium eggs were done just the way I like it, with the crispy edges. The only thing I would have liked would have been crispier bacon.
Now I have to bring a pie home or the family will get mad at me

Nice friendly service. Very clean and airy restaurant. Great menu full of many choices. Great Bakery many choices too. Plenty of room between tables as there no feeling of crowing. Not real noisy as restaurant’s can get. Seems busy all the time. Recommend you go here for a good restaurant experience. Always clean.

Swanky bakery/ restaurant spot! This is our third time coming here and they do not disappoint. I tried their guava mimosa and it was delicious. I would recommend getting brunch or lunch items here. The chili is great, the chicken tenders are good, the bacon and chicken sandwich is fresh, and make sure to take some pastries to go! We had a great waitress, she was super attentive and helpful!

Once in a while, you find a gem. Hof’s Hut Restaurant is one of those. Right when you step in, you’re see a display of their pies and bake goods. Nice bar in the middle of the restaurant. There was a fireplace against the wall. The atmosphere was cozy. The hostess and waiters made you comfortable. Had a hard time deciding chicken pot pie or breakfast pot pie. Decided on ordering a breakfast pot pie. Inside the breakfast pot pie, their were carrots, peas, breakfast sausage, creamy sauce and side of hash brown. The pasty on top was so buttery flaky with a sunny side up egg. It was so good! I highly recommend this restaurant!

Haven’t been back here since their remodel if I’m not mistaken. Place looks very clean and nice now. Service was great and menu options are cool too. The meatloaf here is pretty good and the chicken pot pie too. Times are tough now and this is the place to eat, they have great deals and very affordable if you’re eating out a lot. Great desert selection too if you have a sweet tooth.

Definitely home style cooking. I always get the breakfast plate. I have had lunch and that was just as good. Our server was great but super overwhelmed. The food took awhile and still came out cold and super salty. I had the chicken club with a cup of chili worth every bit. Because of this food experience, I’m reluctant to come back to eat. Atmosphere is so good inside. Booths and tables are great in each section. The bar area looks so awesome and the wide space is really enriching for the restaurant. Get here early for the peach pie it sells out! Maybe we’ll try it again.

Hof’s Hut… been eating here (in multiple locations nearby over the years) when I’m in town, so a few time per year. I grew up in the local neighborhood.
The food is… fine. Nothing fancy, nothing great, and mostly decent. I did order broccoli cheddar soup this week, and it came “thick,” as the server described it. But it came THICK. Like SO thick I could turn the bowl over and it would kinda stick to it and not pour out thick?!
The taste was bland… average…and not overly strong. I had expected it to be overly strong, thinking maybe whomever prepared it in the kitchen had forgotten to add the milk or cream, or whatever they add to their concentrated base to make it “soup,” but it tasted like soup, it was just ridiculously thick. Kind of like eating a sandwich spread that tasted vaguely like broccoli and cheese.
Very odd. Everyone else’s dishes seemed to be mostly enjoyed, but portions were average to small, but prices were far higher than perceived value received. For as much as it cost for 4 people to eat here, we could’ve gone to a much higher quality place, with far more inspired food that stood out and wasn’t just bland and average.
