I had been hearing how amazing their coffee cake is so we decided to make the 1+ drive. We were not disappointed. My only regret is that we didn’t buy more coffee cakes and that we didn’t eat lunch there (we had plans to go somewhere else). The coffee cake wrapped in paper is nothing short of divine! It has a buttery, melt in your mouth flavor with bits of peanut and coconut in an icing that is the pefect sweetness. We also bought a couple chocolate chip cookies and a gingerbread cookie. All are equally delicious, soft and chewy, and tasted homemade. It was definitely worth the drive!

We were in town for the Christmas Country Church tour. Stopped in here for lunch. We had soup of the day (Chicken noodle, very good!), Turkey sandwich on an everything bagel (yummy!), and my husband had the pulled pork on rye (he enjoyed it very much! The meat was perfect!)
Topped it off with this coconut concoction! The cake and frosting flavors were very good, my only complaint is that it had been in a refrigerated case, which I did not realize. So the cake and frosting were quite cold, which might have been necessary for the buttercream, but my personal preference is not for cold cake.

This bakery is such a gem! We stopped by this morning for donuts and coffee while passing through Perryville and I cannot compliment it enough! From the helpful staff to the friendly and kind local patrons making conversation and giving suggestions of what to try, you don’t find places like Hoeckele’s very often in today’s world. And the donuts??? Literally the BEST donuts I’ve had! I don’t think they have any bad ones, but special thanks to the customer who encouraged me to try the caramel apple pie donut, which was AMAZING! Coffee was great too. I highly recommend stopping by here and will be doing so again when we’re in the area. Keep up the delicious work!

This is a Southeast Missouri institution. If you are not type I diabetic, then you must stop if, like a Southerner, “your sugar is low.” Eating a long john, or an old-fashioned custard, or picking up one of their cherry coffee cakes takes me back 45 years as a kid. Today, their services are much broader, and you see a swarm of little soccer cleats, happy grandparents, friends with out-of-town guests, and folks leaving with a smile (and likely, some frosting) on their face. This is Perryville’s version of the original Culver’s motto: “welcome to delicious.”

This was our first time here and it exceeded our expectations!!! Everything is made from scratch. They serve breakfast until 10:00 a.m. and then start their lunch menu. We ordered the bacon egg and cheese biscuit sandwich and the sausage egg and cheese croissant. The biscuit was the absolute softest and fluffiest I’ve ever had! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They offer specialty coffee choices and have flavored creamers. This is our new favorite breakfast place. Can’t wait to try them for lunch.

Wonderful local bakery. Saw the billboards while driving and had to stop and check it out. Huge selection of baked goods. To many options so had to ask for some help. They took their time telling us what everything was and man it was good! Will be back if in the area!

Great Doughnuts and coffee at a reasonable price. They also have a variety of other sweets and deli sandwiches and specialize in cakes, even though I’ve never had to order one this will be my go to bakery if I ever need to. The employees have always been friendly towards me. It’s well worth the 20 minute drive from Illinois, and it’s even better to support a family owned business over a corporate chain.

We stopped here on a road trip. The breakfast sandwiches were super yummy and were comfort food to our bellies. We had the bacon, egg and cheese croissant and the ham, egg and cheese biscuit. We didn’t even get donuts because we overendulged all weekend but they looked amazing.

Perfect spot for lunch and a treat, especially if you’re wanting quick quality but home food rather than fast food. Lovely diner feel: friendly staff happy to give advice on the plentiful baked goods. They have combo options with good sides for lunches.

We were told the specialties are anything with peanut butter (we got a peanut butter donut I think? Haven’t cracked open the box of baked treats yet) and the coffee cake that’s wrapped in bricks on the standalone counter thingie. Happy road trippin!

As always going to Hoeckles when we’re in Perryville visiting family is a wonderful experience! Didn’t disappoint when I picked out a dozen doughnuts and the apple pie I ordered too! YUM! So so good!
