Such a great experience! The best part? The gentleman behind the counter who took our order was incredibly kind. He was one of the most friendly people ever and he was so excited to serve us that he kept throwing in free items on our order. The food was absolutely delicious and it was a lot for what we paid! Loved the murals too! The worst part? The restaurant could use a bit more cleaning but nothing too bad. Would come again!

Hodan Cuisine is a casual african dining spot with classic somali food alongside some americanized options. The Goat meat with rice had great portions and was well balanced between a small salad, rich rice, and well spiced meat. As a heads up, this dining spot can become very busy late in the day and if so, expect a wait before you get your order.

Completely overpriced. I paid $33 for two small steak sandwiches, and they were honestly tasteless. If you’re going to call it a “Somali steak sandwich,” it needs to actually have the right seasoning. This didn’t even taste like steak. If you’re changing the recipe to something generic, you should warn your customers first. Not worth the money.

Too many cooks in the Kitchen and bad quality food. Go there if you don’t mind eating burnt expensive food that can risk your health. I will never recommend this place! I will let the burnt $17.95 Philly Steak below tell the rest of the Story!

I believe the food is good . On the second day of Ramadan I happened to taste the food at Salama Masjid in central avenue. The rice was so good that when I asked the Imam where it was from,he pointed to Hodan cuisine.I told myself,I will definitely stop by and thank them for the delicious meal.Today,21st Feb.2026,I had a pick up next door and went in to thank them and appreciate.Unfortunately, I didn’t know the young bearded guy working there knows nothing about appreciation.May be it was strange to him.I said your meal was good, keep it up.I extented my hand to shake his hand and he recoiled from me.When I asked what was the matter? He said I don’t know you. That is when I realized he was the same guy who man handled a homeless somali guy who one time came in to charge his flip phone when I was dining with a somali dentist from Maryland.I realized he lacks customer service and humane attitude. However we later reconciled and I told him, to avoid judging books by the cover and improve on his attitude. In business attitude towards customers and all human beings is the foundation stone . However, we can’t change ones behavior because we don’t know the upbringing and enviroment he or she grew in. All I can say,it was important for me to stumble into an embarrassing circumstance which was highly beneficial for me because as researchers say,” I would otherwise not have known.”

It was our first time getting Somali food and we were excited to try here based on reviews! We got take out and ordered Sambusas, and then orders of goat with rice and Chicken Suqaar (recommended to us with the BBQ, and we would too after eating it!) with rice, and Somali tea. The food was extremely delicious, the employee who helped us was extremely warm and hospitable, we will absolutely be returning!

The owner is so friendly and welcoming and serve us with Somali tea! The tea was very good and I ordered beef sambusa half of rice with goat. The portions were huge and the beef sambusas were hot and fresh and the goat and rice were delicious! I have a lot of leftovers enough for 3 meals. I love this place and I will definitely come back again!

I invited a group of new friends out to Hodan today, and had an incredible experience. The owner Abdi was incredibly welcoming to us, and the food was amazing! I got the spicy goat with rice and some sambusas, and loved all of it! So glad we have this restaurant in the neighborhood.

I was really excited to try this place out and finally had made plans to get some takeout this past weekend. My takeout order was submitted online and arranged for about 40 minutes out, making for about a noon pickup time. I drove to the restaurant and arrived right at the time my order was scheduled to be ready. When I went to the door it was locked and there appeared to be no one inside. This was my first time at the restaurant so I thought maybe I misunderstood something. I rechecked both the hours listed in the sign in the restaurant window and the Google Maps hours and both said the restaurant was supposed to be open since 10:30 that day. Right about then I get a text saying my order has been delayed- not that it was cancelled.
It’s fine if the owners want to open late for whatever reason but it was a waste of my time for their online ordering service to take my order and only tell me my food wasn’t going to be ready till after I had already arrived. Very disappointed.

I’ve heard some good reviews from this restaurant and I deciddd to go there and order some take out. I placed an order for chicken tenders and fries and I made sure I explained to the cashier my exact order in two languages. He told me that it would be a 10-15 min wait and I decided to wait. 40 minutes goes by and I have not received my order. I decided to go up to him as he was chatting and laughing with some customers and ask if my food was ready. He ignored me and decided to take another customers order. I asked again if my order was ready and he told me it should be and that he would go put it in a bag. I decided to wait again and I spot the same man wiping the counter in the kitchen as I wait for my order. At this point I’m losing my patience and repeat myself again. He bags my food and hands it to me. As soon as I get home, I realize that he game me FOUR pieces of dry chicken nuggets and dried up fries !!! At this point I’m mad and it’s too far of a drive to take this food back and get a refund. Customer service is no where to be found, food was just nasty and dry. Honestly I would skip this place and try other places that respect your time.
