Expect to wait on a weekend, but its well worth the wait. Very home-y, comfortable environment. The menu is large, with an amazing variety in what’s served.

This place was delightful! The Meade selection was fantastic and Lord of the Rings atmosphere was great! Service was great as well, if I wasn’t from Maryland I’d come back all of the time!

I don’t usually take the time to leave reviews but I’m a huge Tolkien fan so here it is. The food came in large portions and was not bad but not particularly good. Mead was good but quite pricey. I enjoyed the ambiance but the experience was tainted but the quality of food and suggested tip. Never in my life have I seen a suggested 50% tip, I was floored. On the plus side the staff were friendly and helpful.

I liked it! Great food! I came to town for a couple of days (for business training). So I looked up a couple of places to eat while I was here. As a Lord of the Rings fan, I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to try a place called Hobbit Cafe. I was pleasantly satisfied. I had the Balrog Burger with Uruk Fries. I will admit – after I took a couple of bites with my hands, the burger was just too big. So I ate the rest with a fork&knife. But every bite was enjoyable. The Uruk (jalapeño chili cheese fries) was also hard to put down. The waitresses were very polite and friendly. I highly recommend this place.

Service was nice, but overall nothing too over the top. My wife and I stopped here roughly at 1PM and it wasn’t too busy. Maybe 3 other families other then ourselves. The atmosphere was pleasant to look at and the staff was polite. The wait for our food was unusually long considering so few people in the restaurant and we’d only ordered two plates and drinks. There was also a brief moment where I smelled “funny cigarettes”, but I’m unsure if it was within the restaurant or from an outside source. Either way when our food came out I can honestly say it was definitely wtith the wait. The food was extremely delicious and so were the beverages. Overall I’d recommend this restaurant.

My son is a HUGE LOTR fan so we surprised him by going and eating. The girl at the front desk was super friendly and gave us a wait time of 20-25 minutes. It was hot outside so we asked to be seated inside. She said it would be a little longer if we wanted to sit inside. I said, “no big deal! We’ll wait!” It turned into 55-60 minutes HOWEVER, the food was worth the wait! Our waitress was not super friendly but I chalked it up to it being busy and gave her grace. All the themed food was super fun and we all got a kick out of the names of the dishes. I had the Misty Mountain Smoothie and it was only okay and not great. For my meal I chose the Fire of Mt. Mordia burger and it was AMAZING! If you are a LOTR fan I would highly recommend this place but expect a wait unless you call the day before to reserve a table. Also seating inside is VERY limited so if you can stand the Houston heat there’s plenty of outdoor seating!

This has been in my Houston foodie collection for a bit. The hubby is a huge Lord of the Rings fan, and the cafe has a buffalo burger. We had to make a trip down! The cafe is super cute with the patio area, and the inside as well. Since it was the evening, the patio was lit up with cute lights, and heaters. The menu that we received was very cluttered making it hard to determine the actual base price of the buffalo burger. It indicated that a buffalo patty was $3.99 more. We both had cheese on our burgers (which was extra) and fries (also extra). As well as 2 sodas. The food was really great! Overall the whole experience was great. The only downside was the price. Since it wasn’t clearly marked in the menus, it was a bit of a shock ($$), hence the 4 stars instead of the 5. I do recommend this as a good place to try once.

Such a fun restaurant for LOTR fans! The food is great so if you are not a fan it is a must go as well. Everything we ordered tasted fantastic. It has been a while since I had mead and the craft has come a long way! The mead flight was a fun way to try 6 different meads.

Hobbit Cafe is a “The Lord of the Rings” inspired restaurant, opened in 1972, and ever since it has become a craft beer and mead bar, burger joint, and haven for vegetarians all in one building. The restaurant has novel and movie-based memorabilia: original artwork, paintings of “Gandalf”, posters, a mural, and a life-size statue of “Gollum”.
