First time customer here. I was skeptical because of the reviews but me and my boyfriend are glad we stopped. I ordered the 6 inch Chicago cheese steak with breaded mushrooms. I was pleasantly surprised with the cheese steak. It was delicious. I loved the combination of oil, lettuce, seasoning and meat. It tasted delicious. I loved the onions. What a great sandwhich. The breaded mushrooms were very good and the price was even better. My boyfriend got the chicken hogie and fries. We will definitely be coming again. I liked how toasted the bread was and how fresh all the ingredients were. Great job, we will be coming back. The service was very fast and the guy taking the order was very accommodating

Hoagie lovers—this is the spot!
Stopped in at Hoagie Hut in Waukegan and left happy and full. The staff was super friendly, which made the visit even better. Tried both the Philly Cheese Steak and the Chicken Philly—both were good, but the steak one was AMAZING. Juicy, cheesy, and packed with flavor. Portions are big, so come hungry. Definitely one of those local gems you’re glad you found!

I got the chicken finger/tender hoagie. The sandwich was ok. The bread was soft, the chicken could have been more well done, and I would have preferred pickle slices or chips instead of an entire wedge on the sandwich. The yellow cheese was not melted all the way, and the chicken was not seasoned at all. Just fried and added to the sandwich. Hubs had the tuna sandwich. He enjoyed it. He rated his sandwich 4 out of 5. The sandwich was skimpy, not enough tuna on it.

First timers… not impressed. We got 3 sandwiches. Chicago cheese steak hoagie, seafood hoagie, chicken cheese Philly hoagie. 6inch each. All with fries. Fries were hot and fresh but not salted. Sandwiches… fresh toasted bread- good. Very unique take on chicago cheese steak with lettuce, tomatoes onion and Italian seasoning/dressing. The meat was a topping on a veggie sandwich. Chicken hoagie had grilled onions and mushrooms on it with some of the Italian seasoning. It was like Italian beef flavored chicken Philly. Very different. Seafood hoagie had a ton of lettuce, onions italian seasoning on it. It was a cold sandwich on toasted bread. I expected warm seafood. It looked like seafood dip smeared on a toasted bread topped with a head of shredded lettuce and 1/4 of an onion. See pictures for yourself. We won’t be rushing back there.

I’ve been following this business for a very long time 30 years to be exact for their classic Chicago steak hoagie great deception they changed the French baguette to a hotdog bread, which is not pleasant not the same flavor i guess the guy who just to make it is not there anymore now their kids make them well, so I guess that’s it. They ruined the tradition of the great sandwiches.

Hoagie Hut has been a family favorite for years. It’s the first thing I ate in my empty house the day I closed on it when I came back to Waukegan. My brother always asks for it when he comes to town. But now the sandwiches are just disappointing. It’s so sad.
