Hite’s Bar-B-Que is a true Columbia staple and one of those classic spots that’s been around for a reason. It’s not trying to be fancy or trendy. It’s just straightforward, no frills BBQ that hits the spot when you want something familiar and satisfying.

The food is solid, the portions are good, and it’s the kind of place you can count on for a dependable meal. It feels like a local institution and it’s the type of restaurant that adds character to a city.

I’m giving it five stars because it does exactly what it’s supposed to do and it does it consistently. If you want a classic Columbia BBQ experience, Hite’s is absolutely worth a visit.

I’ve been coming here for over 30 years this is real deal South Carolina barbecue. I don’t like hash at all, but I always get some because there’s is the best. They’re chopped barbecue is phenomenal. Their sauce is otherworldly the folks working here are the best. I hope the tradition continues on for many more years.

Small BBQ shop. Pick up only. Plates or larger portions to go. There are picnic tables outside beside a nice pond. No covered seating. The portions are large. You can get BBQ pork, chicken or ribs. $11 Plates includes rice and hash, roll and 1 side. Dessert is $2. We got banana creme pudding. Drinks are in the cooler. Very good BBQ. I added some vinegar sauce to mine. I will definitely be back to support a local family business!

Stop by before closing & ordered 2 meals Togo – chicken & pork. Ordered some ribs on the side. Chicken was excellent – smoky, tender fall off bone & tasty. Hash over rice was different & very tasty. Chopped pork was ok, fresh meat & some smoke. Green beans & baked beans all good. Ribs had a bite on the bark & tender inside, sweet red sauce. They also have the mustard version. Large portions & reasonably prices. A hidden gem.

This place shouldn’t even be called a barbecue place it was my first time trying this place and I was very disappointed. Yea the price is reasonable but you get what you pay for, the food was horrible. The food was not season at all, tasted like bad hospital food. Only thing was worth eating semi sort of was the slaw. I drove passed this place the first time but turned around and went back because of how crowded it was, if I knew then what I know now I would have keep driving. The food is horrible. Threw all both platters in the trash with all the sides. Never again.

Old establishment been cooking BBQ for as long as I can remember. Only open certain day’s and for holidays. Prices are very reasonable and you get plenty of food. BBQ is really good. No dining in, all take out. Service is fast and everyone is friendly and helpful. Good place to stop and pick up something to take home when you don’t feel like cooking. Restaurant is clean throughout and outside area is kept clean and neat. Everything is good!

Ordered a BBQ plate. It included pork BBQ, hash and rice, 1 side and a roll. The BBQ was one of the best I have ever tasted. It had a great smoky flavor. The hash was good but the sides were just mediocre.

Saw this place on TV show and decided to try it hands down absolutely disgusting a real disappointment. The meat is boiled and mustard sauce thrown on top , the hash is not SC authentic, this is not home style barbecue that I remember from yesteryear definitely not. Food has water in the bottom of the the dish , just food no flavor threw out the dinners I purchased.the place in Eutawville is definitely better and that’s not up to par but better than here. The food shows are only for a boost in business and not actually telling you the truth, food shows need to be held accountable for the fake good food lies told

Take out only, but this BBQ is worth the stop, just like Southern Living says. Pulled pork and hash are just as good as I remembered.

Excellent bbq with generous portions and I love the mustard sauce and the hash. Been eating here since I was a kid in the 1980’s. BBQ done right. Get there early enough for some rich and flavorful pork skins.
