Last Friday was our first time here. I give it 5-stars for the atmosphere and ambiance. If you like dives and little local joints you’ll love His & Hers. This is one of those places where everyone looks at the door when you walk in but you immediately feel welcome and “at home.” The space is one of those old downtown buildings that is much deeper than it is wide. It’s a true “hole in the wall” joint (what we love)! The decor is an old jukebox playing the classics (70’s and 80’s rock and country). You might want to play a game of 8-ball or admire the neon beer sign collection as you wait for your order. Speaking of beer, I noted that cans of beer started at just $2. I had a large burger and Suzie-Q’s, she had a tenderloin which she said was very good. The cheeseburger was almost more than I needed to eat. There’s no fine dinnerware, this is a paper plate and bring your koozie. The staff of three (which I believe were the owners and an employee) were very gracious. It was an hour round trip for us to have dinner here but worth a nice drive through the countryside! Good place to meet a few friends and enjoy an evening in Walnut, Kansas (population 187…SALUTE)!

I am writing to provide feedback on a recent experience at your establishment. I was a potential customer in the area and was considering visiting, but I was informed that your establishment has a policy or practice that is not welcoming to individuals with service dogs.
As you may know, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires that businesses serving the public generally must allow service animals to accompany people with disabilities in all areas where members of the public are allowed to go. Allergies and fear of dogs are not valid reasons for denying access or refusing service.
Because of the information I received regarding your policy, I chose to take my business elsewhere. I believe that all patrons, including those who rely on service animals, should be treated with respect and allowed equal access as required by law.
I respectfully request that you review your policies with your staff to ensure full compliance with the ADA and Kansas state laws. Understanding and adhering to these laws helps protect the rights of individuals with disabilities and prevents potential legal issues for your business.
I hope that you will take this feedback seriously and make the necessary changes to ensure an inclusive environment for everyone.

”I was unfortunately unable to dine at your establishment due to a deeply distressing and unprofessional encounter concerning my medical service dog, Molly.
Upon approaching the entrance, a woman identified as the owner’s wife immediately challenged Molly’s presence, dismissively claiming that the service dog identification she wore could be purchased online. This resulted in an immediate refusal of entry and an unsuitable offer of only outdoor seating. The individual then posed an inappropriate and illegal question regarding Molly’s specific function, which she instantly retracted by stating, ‘I can’t ask that.’
This refusal of service to a patron with a disability was highly disrespectful and caused an immediate and significant negative impact on my health, requiring me to leave abruptly.
Molly is not a pet; she is an essential, highly-trained partner. For eight years, she has served as my medical alert dog, tracking my every movement and consistently recognizing and responding to critical symptoms long before I am aware of them. Her service and expertise have been recognized publicly, including appearances on the news and at large-scale public events.
I was met with a quick judgment and a failure to recognize the legal and medical necessity of my service animal. While I have heard wonderful things about your food, I urge management to immediately train all staff on ADA compliance, service animal rights, and respectful customer engagement.”
Thank you for your time.

7:15 is usually a reasonable time to grab something to eat right? This place has a reputation for being great and we were excited that we were going to try it. Placed our to go order at 7:20 and we were told it would be 45 minutes. No problem, we thought. I told her it was our first time and heard it was worth it. We got our food *1hour and 15 minutes* later, just minutes AFTER our friends who got there 30 minutes after we did. Once we got home with it there wasn’t anything special about it. Dry meat and regular condiments. We expected better. Twist our arms and we may try it again.
