I don’t really get why they have such a high rating. The highlight was the frosty mugged root-beer, but the buck stopped there.

The fries were soggy and not hot. The burger was decent but not worth $9.25 for a single. They also charge for extra fry sauce.

Kids menu is Sysco corn dog and soggy fries for almost $8.

They expected regular tip but they took our order and brought out the food. Never got checked back on and I even had to go ask for napkins. Seemed bothered when I asked.
Should really decide on your service identity.

Recommend going to fast food over this.

This place has been in business since 1959. More food than I could eat. Patty melt was good, rye bread toasted perfectly. Onion rings are sliced & battered in house. Frosty mug of root beer is a must.

Food here was terrible. My son and I ordered a turkey avocado sandwich, western bacon burger, fries, and onion rings to share. The burger was nothing spectacular. The sandwich was awful. Dry Wonder bread, with cheap deli turkey and brown avocado. I took couple bites but ultimately couldn’t eat it. Fries and rings weren’t bad. Charged extra for fry sauce. The service was fine. The real kicker was that I paid $47 for 2 people for overall just gross food. I left wishing we had just gone to in n out for a good burger at half the price. This place used to be good! It’s gone way downhill.

I came to Hires Big H hungry and left… still hungry and $18 poorer. For that price, I thought I was ordering a deluxe burger combo with a side of stock options. Instead, I got a burger that looked like it was made for a toddler on a diet. I’ve seen sliders with more confidence.

As for the ketchup situation, WOW. I asked for extra and you’d think I requested access to a bank safe. The waitress handed me a single, world’s smallest sample like it was part of her personal rations during the apocalypse. I’ve seen people be more generous with their Netflix passwords. I ended up rationing it across my fries like I was playing some sad condiment version of “Survivor.”

Great atmosphere, the food is definitely mid. I think In-N-Out beats them in flavor and quality by a mile, for half the price. The bun was great but the patty was definitely lacking. Our waiter was nice, definitely in training and could have been more familiar with the menu when we asked questions, but what I would expect from a newly opened restaurant. He was super kind to offer the kids a free ice cream cone, though! The shakes, ice cream and root beer were top notch. Wouldn’t revisit because I don’t think the quality justifies the price. If I go to a burger joint, I’m mostly looking for a good burger. The ice cream alone isn’t enough to bring me back.

Vintage diner feel but the service was not great. We had to ask server to come back when we were ready to order. Burgers were OK, nothing to write home about. Reuben sandwich was delicious and crave-able though! Kids’ meal came with fries and a small drink but the cheeseburger was puny and mediocre. Root beer in a cold mug was delicious and nostalgic.
Portions were ok for adult meals. Prices were well above average. Combo deals add almost 8 bucks to your meal price for fries and a drink! I would not go out of my way to go here again.

Extremely poor experience on all sides of the house.

Food itself is nothing to write home about. Cheeseburger looks as though it was slapped together, had little to no flavor, and was drowned in ketchup. The root beer, which seems to be this locations’s claim to fame, was extremely weak. It’s more akin to soda water with a couple drops of syrup.

Came with a few of the mates and the waitress repeatedly got our orders wrong. Never got the waters we asked for, couple of meals were missing fries, some got onion rings instead of fries, and my burger didn’t come with mustard like the menu advertised.

The prices are outrageous for the quality of the food and service our group received. Charging $8 for my sad cheeseburger ought to be a crime, as it’s nothing short of highway robbery.

If you’re in the mood for a burger and fries, you’re better off going to another place that’s half the price but twice the food and twice the flavor.

It defines feels like being transported to another era. The food is good, and root beer service friendly. I would absolutely recommended going here if you’re looking for a good old fashioned burger and some killer root beer. The frosted mugs make it all the more refreshing and are a really nice touch.

Decent burger, delicious root beer. Beware of the parking lot. This place is so popular and the stalls are smaller than desirable. It’s pretty tight.

Classic American diner. Easily the best onion rings I’ve ever had and I really liked the root beer freeze. The lemon chicken sandwich was a little lacking in lemon, but it was good.
