Hinode is an absolute hidden gem tucked away on 9W in Piermont. From the outside, it may look like a simple house, but step inside, and you’ll discover one of the best sushi experiences around. I’ve been here four times now, and every visit has been consistently excellent.
The sushi is incredibly fresh, beautifully executed, and thoughtfully prepared. Each piece feels like it’s made with care and intention, striking that perfect balance between tradition and creativity. Whether you’re ordering simple nigiri or a specialty roll, the quality is top-tier.

Absolutely delicious! The hospitality is compared to none other. The 50 min drive is well worth it! The food is always fresh, everything tastes amazing. The attention you receive is like being at your favorite grandparents house, you feel love and attention. Every visit is a better experience. Thank you to everyone at Hinode for making my new found love for Sushi become a deep addiction…. especially for your food. Your fried Gyoza are crispy, flavorful, the tea is just right, the Tuna salad and the Tuna Love are my favorite!!!!!! Looking forward to getting to eat their whole menu lol.

Terrible quality and freshness of the fish. Tasted stale and bitter. Salad consisted of maybe 5 pieces of lettuce and miso soup was filled up a quarter of the way. After voicing the taste of the fish to the chef he gave the check charging for the foul tasting roll. Was weirdly expensive also. Gladly payed the bill however didn’t leave a tip for obvious reasons. Was followed outside and asked why no tip. Explained the issues and was scolded before the chef asked that I not return. Stay away from this sushi restaurant much better options in Nyack and Orangeburg.

Hinode has an unconventional location but a fantastic experience every time! the food is always fresh and really wonderfully prepared. my mom has trouble with seafood sometimes and their seafood is so fresh and has never given her an issue ever! they even give me extra rolls sometimes. like today i got a cucumber roll and a salmon roll and she threw in a california roll for free! the owner is seriously the most amazing person ever!

I’ve been coming to hinode since I was a kid. the sushi is always fresh and tasty. I live 45 minutes away and still take a trip over whenever I want to treat myself to good food. I will be returning in a few days for my birthday.
Also saw someone left a review about there not being a bathroom which made me laugh, there is a bathroom and Ive washed my hands in it every time Ive visited since I was a little girl – they must have the wrong place.

This place is a local gem! I come at least once every week for lunch, I usually get the lunch special Sushi A, and it always includes 4 pieces of fresh sushi. I look forward to it every week!

Excellent quality and friendly staff. I wish they allow seating at the bar. I enjoy watching the chefs while preparing dishes and also interacting with them. I usually dine solo so it’s more comfortable.
