Food was pretty good. Had some good flavors and spice combinations. We showed up at the end of a rush and got seated in the back of the restaurant and forgotten about. They took our drink and our food order, but never came to check if we wanted drink refills or needed more water. I wound up having to get up and go find a waiter to ask them for more water twice.

This place is incredible….. seriously! Considering, I am a foodie of authentic ethnic cuisine and have been to numerous countries and countless Indian restaurants all over the US, specifically on the West and East coasts, I wished I could give this restaurant 10 stars as it certainly deserves more. The food alone is phenomenal but what makes this extra special in my book is the ambiance, aesthetics and how friendly the staff is. Often, you expect to have to dress up for such a gorgeous place….. don’t let the outside fool you. The inside is stunning! However, the staff welcomes any person who walks through their doors no matter their attire. We certainly weren’t dressed up at all but came here on the recommendation of a local Antique store owner in town. You can walk in dressed in diamonds or dirt, and you’ll be treated like royalty! Our server, Preethi (pronounced: Pre-tee) was outstanding and very knowledgeable with recommendations. The bartender created a drink suitable to my desire and wow it was delightful!!! Treat yourself or a loved one here! You won’t regret it. By the way, the patrons are large so prepare to have leftovers or walk in with hungry bellies!

Had a wonderful experience here!
The staff and service were exceptional — especially Preethi, who was awesome.
The Veg Maharaja Thali was absolutely delicious – with perfectly balanced flavors, generous portions, and a great variety of dishes. Everything tasted fresh and homemade, especially the dal and sabzi.
The ambience was calm and pleasant, with clean seating and tasteful decor. It’s an ideal spot for a relaxed meal with family or friends.
Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for authentic Indian food served in a peaceful and welcoming environment!

This gem in the middle of the mountain meeting the river is a must have indian food. The lamb was tender, the breads were amazing. The rice was cooked to perfection.
I’m definitely going to stop by and eat dinner at Hindustani again

This place is awesome. We tried the chicken malai kabab, tender smoky morsels of chicken served on a sizzling platter; butter chicken, creamy warm and gently spiced and so good; and the lemon soup, tangy warm and comforting. We also had the mango kulfi, it was sublime!

Their food was absolutely amazing! I didn’t fully know what I was ordering but it was delicious and exactly what I was craving. The staff are super friendly and checked on me many times to make sure I was doing well and enjoying my meal/experience. I do wish they had photos of the meals on the menu but that’s not a big deal:) I will definitely come here regularly and if you’re looking for great authentic indian cuisine with sizable portions, this is the place in the Columbia River Gorge! I’ll be back!

Everything looked and tasted great.
The lamb and chicken so good.
I asked for spicy and it was on point. Flavor bomb!
The sauces were thick, the lamb wasn’t fatty and the portions were plenty for sharing or leftovers so it’s like a two for one.
Definitely will be back!!!

Above average Indian cuisine with lots of options and great flavors. They could improve the ambience by lowering the overhead lights and putting table lamps or something that creates a cozier environment. The weight staff is good, but they’re spread all over a pretty broad restaurant space instead of handling different zones. It’s nice to have this restaurant as an option in Hood River!

China Gorge will definitely be missed however, the food is good here. The portions are decently sized as well. Prices are the higher side however, they should consider just adding another dollar or two to cut back on the nickel and diming.
Fountain drinks have no refills. You need to pay per cup.
To go containers cost 25 cents each.
There’s an additional charge for using a credit card.
It all feels a bit out of place. Set your expectations accordingly.

Of all the Indian Food I have eaten across the country and abroad, this is some of the best I have ever had. I’m gradually making my way through all of the vegetarian dishes and every single thing I have had has been excellent. Favorites are Dahi Puri and Dal Makhani. Eat here – you will not regret it. There is something for everyone. My partner is the pickiest eater, and even they ask to go back time and again.
