Popped in for lunch and enjoyed ourselves. Nice comfortable seating with nicely cushioned chairs. We got a little table by the window so we could people watch. Lovely little spot in the village. I started with a blood orange margarita which was very tasty and pretty to look at. Then I got the samosas which were very good. Came out nice and hot with a lot of filling crunchy and warm. We had to ask for the lunch menu specials. Then I got the lamb curry. That was very tasty as well! Very nice presentation. You get a little side salad, some cauliflower and potatoes, the lamb curry, and then the lentils and everything was very flavorful. Transports you back to India! Our server was a bit too attentive so we felt rushed, and he wasn’t very friendly & didn’t smile much but he got the job done. Pretty decent prices on the cocktails and drink menu and for what you get with the food it’s pretty well priced as well. Will definitely be back when I get another craving for Indian food!

Located on the main street of The Vallage of Big Bear Lake, this restaurant primarily serves Indian and Nepalese cuisine. Personally, I thought their curry was quite good, although the portion was a bit small, but the accompanying rice was plentiful. As for the roast chicken and lamb, which I also tried, I found them just average; the meat was a bit too dry. The staff were polite and friendly, and the environment was fairly clean. If you’re not looking for Western food, you might want to give it a try!

I was delighted to find a Nepali restaurant in the small and beautiful mountain tourist town of Big Bear Lake. It’s a cozy place that combines a Nepali shop, bar, and restaurant all in one.
The Himalayan Restaurant was clean, well-kept, and the staff were friendly. I especially appreciated the respectful way they treated their customers.
The food was delicious—thukpa, chow mein, and momos were great! It would be even better if they could add more traditional Nepali dishes to the menu.

We ordered the chicken momos (Nepali dumplings), veggie samosas, and a tandoori mixed grill and apricot naan (full of diced apricots)…everything delicious. Friendly service. Surprisingly good mixed drinks…their whiskey sour is made with the traditional egg white top, which I always like. Prices are typical of Indian/Himalayan sit down dining. No complaints. Will definitely visit again especially because it’s in Big Bear village, and you can’t beat eating delicious food in a beautiful mountain location!!

If chaos and disappointment are your idea of dining, this place is perfect.
We waited over 40 minutes for a simple order, only to have everything appear within 3 minutes after we asked—clearly it had been sitting somewhere forgotten. The lamb curry was lukewarm and tasted old.
We were told the chicken was “unavailable,” yet the table next to us—who arrived after us—somehow got the exact same dish. When our grilled chicken finally came, it arrived without the sauce.
A truly impressive combination of slow service, cold food, and zero organization. Never coming back.

Our visit to the Himalayan Restaurant in Big Bear, California was a standout culinary experience. Having dined at many Nepalese and Indian restaurants over the years, we found the food here to be exceptionally authentic, flavorful, and generously portioned—perfect for those arriving with an appetite. The dishes were beautifully spiced and thoughtfully prepared, reflecting the care and tradition behind Himalayan cuisine.
Despite the restaurant being busy, the service was outstanding. Our server was not only courteous and attentive, but impressively knowledgeable about the menu, helping us make informed and satisfying choices. The entire staff contributed to a welcoming and professional atmosphere that made our evening truly enjoyable. We’ll definitely return on our next trip to Big Bear.

For my birthday, we were looking for a restaurant in Big Bear and came across this place. I had some doubts at first because the rating wasn’t as high as I usually look for, but I really liked the atmosphere and the vibe, so we decided to give it a try — and I’m so glad we did.
The experience was wonderful. The vibe was warm and welcoming, and the food was excellent. We had the tandoori chicken, an okra dish, and lamb — everything was flavorful and beautifully prepared.
I also loved that there’s a small Himalayan clothing and gift shop inside the restaurant. They had lovely ponchos and Himalayan souvenirs at very reasonable prices, which made the visit feel even more special.
Overall, the experience was much better than we expected and truly memorable — it even inspired me to write this review. I highly recommend this place.

There are not many restaurants in Big Bear with a lot of vegan options so we were excited to find this place. We came on a Monday night as there wasn’t much open in the village. We were seated right away and ordered quickly. The food came out very fast and everything was incredible! I appreciated that there were multiple vegan choices to share as well as clearly marked dishes for other dietary restrictions. I would absolutely recommend this place as it has something for everyone!
