At Hilltop Tavern we take our food prep seriously… perfectly seasoned, perfectly mixed, and apparently made by someone who makes it look way too easy. Come see …

I took my girls for a Saturday early dinner. The staff was very friendly… The greeter had a smile on his face and sat is quickly. Our waiter was great. He stopped by our table several times to make sure we had everything we needed… and to refill our cups. It’s a cute local place and we’ll go again.

We have been wanting to go for awhile and it did not disappoint. If you get tge Mozz stick be aware it can feed at least 6 people we did not realize just how massive it would be. They could easily half the size on this.
I ordered the dirty bird, it was fresh and crisp. I did not realize the pickles were bread and butter though, so just for awareness. The coleslaw was creamy but not much flavor. The Korean glaze was great. I was super excited for the tallow fries, I guess I was expecting them to be crispy, but they were soft and pillowy.
My husband got the chicken fried steak, it was AWESOME. The breading goes to the edge of the meat without breading overhang, it was light crispy batter. Honestly one of the best we’ve ever had. The garlic mashed potatoes were killer too. The okra was pretty good too.
We will deff be back. Also honorable mention to the sweet tea and sprite. They have the good ice and the carbonation was crisp.
The food runner, bless him, was a little lost. He forgot our fries and our okra had to go back for both but he was polite. Our waitress was very sweet also!

Delicious, interesting menu with Texas and cajun flavors and lots of beers. We recommend the pita bread with hummus and the chicken sandwich. Our food was delivered to us in a reasonable amount of time. The fries were delicious. There is plenty of parking. Given the location, I would gave expected them to take better advantage of the view, but if you sit at the bar, your back is away from the sunset…all good. The only odd thing is, the portion of thr bar closest to the parking lot is right in front of some very loud refrigerators, so it kills the vibe. We initially sat there and then moved.

This place is great!
The vibe is very welcoming and lets you linger in its comfortable seats.

The food is absolutely amazing.

– The dirty bird (fried) is such an amazing sandwich. And the blue cheese slaw :::chefs kiss::: crunchy, perfectly seasoned chicken, topped with buffalo sauce that beams the right heat. Tangy pickles and creamy blue cheese slaw add great contrast, all tucked into a soft, house-made bun that pulls everything together.

– The fries are fried in beef tallow and they are so addictive.

– Loaded pulled pork nachos- where to begin?
Piled high with tender pulled pork and a tangy Carolina BBQ drizzle. A rich, charred jalapeño queso ties everything together, while the pickled onions and jalapeños add just the right pop of acidity. Finished with a cool lime crema and creamy avocado, every bite hits a perfect balance of smoky, spicy and fresh!

This is a perfect hangout place to watch a game on their many TVs.

Went on the Friday after Christmas around 2pm. It was not busy at all. The staff was attentive. We got the pimento cheese appetizer and the mozzarella log appetizer bc we are kinda fatties that love apps. Both were good but the mozzarella log was a better deal and more satisfying. My husband got the tri tip burger. He wasn’t too impressed. He expected a ground tri tip patty rather than sliced smoked meat. I had the tavern burger, which was amazing. Both came with fries fried in beef talo that were damn good– we dipped them in blue cheese dressing that we requested which was really fresh and not funky like most blue cheese. We had all that, plus 1-22oz and 1-16oz size stella artois beer. Total was about $68. Pretty reasonable considering what all we got. Very enjoyable experience, we will definitely be back.

The Switch Bit
Hilltop Tavern has just opened, so I understand there may still be some kinks to work out, but my first visit was a bit underwhelming especially for the price point.

I ordered the Old Fashioned, which was $12, and it was honestly unlike any Old Fashioned I’ve had before. It looked almost transparent when it came out, and it tasted very watered down. It seemed like a bottom-shelf bourbon mixed with simple syrup and water rather than the bourbon-forward, balanced drink you expect from an Old Fashioned. For the price, it really missed the mark.

I also got the chips with salsa, queso, and guacamole.

Salsa: Fire-roasted and actually pretty tasty, but I think it would shine even more if they served it warm.

Queso: Mild in flavor; you can tell real cheese was used, which is nice, but it didn’t have much spice or depth. Decent, just not very memorable.

Guacamole: Fresh but very avocado-heavy. It felt like it was missing a key balancing flavor.

For one drink and the chips trio, the total was about $30. That feels high compared to the overall quality of what I received.

I’m willing to give Hilltop Tavern another try because it’s new and has potential, but my first experience didn’t quite justify the price.

Happened upon this place for their soft opening (day 1!) with the lowest of low expectations. I was not only surprised, I was swept off my feet. Everyone thinks “another sports bar,” but this is “THE sports bar.” Not only is the atmosphere great, TVs in view from anywhere you sit, enough space to enjoy your meal without crowding up on people…but the food is absolutely great. We ordered the mozzarella stick (yes, stick because it’s 1 ft long), the burnt ends, the buffalo wings, chicken fried steak, barbacoa taquitos and the turkey sandwich. The mozzarella stick is unlike any others, being 1 ft long and topped with a delicious glaze. The burnt ends were perfectly cooked to melt in your mouth. The wings fell off the bone, I mean the best wings I think I’ve ever had. The chicken fried steak, a staple in this area, was perfectly seasoned with a sauce you won’t find anywhere else. That being said, walk into a place on their first day and it’s not going to run smooth, right? Well these people were on point! Our server Ashley an absolute joy! Service was great, food came out timely and portioned out. I can’t wait to come back asap!

Hilltop Tavern is a great spot to hang out and relax. The vibe is laid-back, the staff is friendly, and the food is good, their burgers are delicious.

They do add a 3% fee when paying with a credit card. Not my favorite thing, but they disclose it upfront, so it’s understandable.
