On August the 28th, my girlfriend and I decided to stop down and have her birthday dinner at Hil-Mok. We walk in and are seated after about 5 minutes. Waitress was nice place looked stunning followed by Post Malone Country slop music. We ordered HALIBUT tacos as a starter. We receive SHRIMP tacos, disappointed but my girlfriend and I work in food, so we usually let a mistake fly. Shrimp was dry and it was topped with nothing but crunchy veggies. 2/5 for those. Then the chef proceeds to come out and ask us how our CHICKEN tacos are…. Staff doesn’t even know what they’re plating and handing out?? I order a salmon with scallops, asparagus and a baked potato. My girlfriend orders a filet (MEDIUM) salmon, baked potato, and rice. We wait about 45 minutes for that with about 2-3 other tables seated at the time. No big deal. We get our food and she cuts into her steak, wow the thing is still Mooing. My asparagus is floppy and lacks any flavor, the baked potato’s looked like a dried soggy cooch, not even a slab of butter. Scallops were amazing but lacking something, like they had the texture of a jello. The waitress comes asks us how we were doing, and after their first mistake I let them know , hey her steaks pretty rare, and we didn’t want to inconvenience and waste more of our vacation time so , no we do not want to send it back. Never seen the chef come out and apologize or anything. Rice was terrible on her plate, looked like minute rice and they just plopped it on the plate. The salmon was okay a 3/5 on a good day. We get our bill , and after the steak that moos, on the bill we are charged for a 28$ MEDIUM cooked steak. The least they could’ve done was take 10-15 dollars off for a quarter eaten rare steak that was not what we ordered. The place screams elegance and all I got was a jail spin on seafood elegancy. Steer clear from this tourist stop. PS for all that we spent 120$!!!

Went here on our motorcycles and had lunch. Very nice establishment. Friendly staff. Excellent service. We had the Perch on the lake dinner with twice baked potatoes and everything was perfect and fresh. They were just getting their new bar up and running but did not partake. They did however give us a sample of their new corn ribs. Phew! I could eat those and some other seafood bites and drink spirits all day there. Highly recommend and hope to find myself back there again.

First trip here, the fish was excellent extremely fresh tasting and a large filet. Lobster bisque was good as were the hush puppies. Loved the cole slaw. Overall its an excellent place for fresh fish as many don’t have the assortment of fish to choose from as Hil-Mak does.

We have been coming to Hilmaks for over 20+ yrs.it’s an hour from us. We love it !!! Christina was such a great server, professional but friendly answered all my ( many lol ) questions, came back just often enough to check on us.we had a great even be because of how we were taken care of & of course the FABULOUS FOOD !!

Whenever me and my boyfriend go out to eat, I always say “I should have let you order for me” because I end up liking his food more than mine the majority of the time. This was one of those times. All of the food was phenomenal, But the scallops that my boyfriend had gotten… Top tier in all the seafood places we’ve gone to. We’ll definitely be back and we’ll definitely order two plates instead of just one. Also the hush puppies ohh girl

Amazing!! Jeff and his team offer superb service, a clean atmosphere …. Great value for your dollar! The freshest seafood i’ve had in a long time. Amazing fillet as well!! We have the erie fine dining card and its worth the hour drive. Highly reccomend.

For a supposed high-end seafood restaurant, this place sucks. I guess these small town people just don’t have good taste is the only explanation I can figure for how this restaurant had 4.5 star rating. The lobster bisque had an okay taste, but it had the consistency almost of mashed potatoes. It was way way too thick. I ordered a combo dinner with a 5 oz lobster tail, three scallops and a crab cake. The lobster was okay but just okay. The scallops were undercooked and the crab cake was tasteless. And what I’m assuming was supposed to be remoulade served with the crab cake, tasted like tartar sauce with ketchup in it. The asparagus was really cold and absolutely flavorless. I was thankful that I didn’t eat the bread so I had butter that they gave me with the bread to put on the asparagus to give it some flavor . The server was as nice as she could be but she was an awful server. My wine was warm. My food was cold and when she brought this huge plate of food to my table she just sat it down on the other side of the table and the plate with my bowl of bisque was still sitting in front of me. She didn’t even pick it up until I ask her to. It was just about $100 for this dinner and I was so disappointed. I’m on a road trip and from now on unless I’m in a big city I’m not eating that any supposed good(pricey)restaurants. I don’t never mind paying if the food is good but to pay $100 for food. My boyfriend and I went for Valentine’s dinner there. Drove an hour to go to it. I can honestly say, it was the worst food I’ve ever had in my entire life. Ordered the shrimp scampi and asparagus…couldn’t eat either! Horrible, both were awful!!. I never leave reviews on anything, but this…I had to. Very disappointed.
