I like the atmosphere here, easy going and friendly. They are very good to my mom who’s in her late 80s and I always have great tacos. Love the fresh chops and salsas

Food FAIL. Steer clear… VERY clear. We were in the mood for tacos and figured why not give this spot a try. The place was quasi empty. However, we’ve had five star meals at places a whole lot emptier. The menu is not in the customer’s favor, considering you are forced to buy tacos as a combo with rice and beans (2 tacos $17+ and 3 tacos $22+)… WAY overpriced. Switching up sides will cost you extra – $1. The supposed ‘hand chopped’ guacamole was absolutely pre-purchased and was told it wasn’t – I even know the brand they used, and it’s not the good kind. The server was kind enough to take it off the bill, but it set the tone for what was to come. The only decent tacos were the Birria and Korean (one on my plate, the other on my wife’s), other than that – no flavor whatsoever. I was not going to make another complaint as if this is their offering, I’m not going to be pleased regardless of what’s brought out. The rice and beans were extremely salty, and I’m almost positive that they’re from the can as well. The tortilla chips were very good, I’ll give them that – but the Verde sauce was heavy-handed on the lime, while the hot sauce didn’t have a pleasant flavor. I’ve toured all around the country, my review track record shows that I’m not out to get a freebie like others out there. This was just an unpleasant experience… the only positive was I was sharing it with my wife. Steer clear, not recommended.

Place looked cute and I wanted to like it, but I don’t see myself coming back. The chips and salsa were good. The guacamole tasted like it was canned store-bought rather than freshly made- the waiter did take it off the bill for us. The tacos are not available ala carte, only as a combo with rice and beans (odd). You can change your side for an extra dollar. The tacos themselves were each fairly bland, and everything was heavily salted. The birria taco comes with a sauce rather than a consome. The mango pieces on top of the Caribbean taco weren’t ripe. It was all edible, but not somewhere I’d return to. I guess this may be why they were empty on a Sunday evening.

The second visit to this place, and I believe they have improved ,the place is very inviting with a fresh look, the service is friendly and attentive, and the food is very good, we started with drinks which were followed by Santa Fe Empanadas and Stuffed Plantains, they were good, I was surprised by the Plantains since am not a big fan of them, but whatever they did to them was the right move, then we moved to the main dishes, I had the Fish Taco and the Seared Tuna and Shrimp tacos, they were delicious, we also ordered the Caribbean and the Korean Tacos, the were good, overall a good experience. Will return more often.

On a rare Monday with us both being off the hubby and I decided to try High Tide Taco Bar for the first time. Of course we both had to try a margarita, so we ordered a Strawberry Basil and a Spicy Pineapple. Both were very good!
For apps my hubby got the Stuffed Plantains which he claims were amazing and I had the super yummy Black Bean soup. We both did the taco lunch special. I tried the Korean taco which was amazing and I also had a El Camino taco which
was also very tasty. Joe got the Pineapple Express and the Chorizo tacos, both excellent. As usual we sat by the bar and Anthony did a fantastic job especially since he was by himself and they were quite busy.

My wife and I are vegan and have been coming here for a few weekends in a row. Really good vegan options that have amazing flavor, tortilla chips are always super fresh and the sauces that come with are amazing. Super chill staff and always make us feel welcomed. Definitely worth checking the place out when you’re in the farmingdale area, right on main st, parking lot in the back is always nice too bc the street parking is always taken.

Big fan of High Tide Taco Bar! Highly recommend trying this place out in Farmingdale.

I first got to try this place out when we had a Yelp Elite Event where we had taco take out kits. I loved the taco take out kids and felt like the meal was scrumptious and filling.

We returned today to take out lunch. I love the ambiance and vibe of this place. Beachy with Spanish vibes at the bar. The customer service here is great. We are always warmly greeted nd given great suggestions of what to try.

We ordered take out of the Taco Salad and the Southwestern Salad but substituted shrimp for the steak. The chipotle parmesan dressing is DELISH! We couldn’t finish our lunches as they were filling and I look forward to eating it again later.

I have yet to try the drinks here so that will be next on my to do list.

So you wouldn’t really think to order it… but the hidden secret of this place is the dessert! Let me tell you, we ordered the churros with the chocolate dipping sauce the first time with our taco kits. Omg – brought me back to my childhood days. Who doesn’t love a delicious churro! Well this place has it.

Well today – the kind man at the bar – I think he was the owner or manager, I didn’t get to catch his name, suggested we try to Rice Pudding Empanadas. So like I would never think of ordering that on my own. But we decided why not let’s try it. Wow. SO GOOD! Warm empanadas with rice pudding with an apple dipping sauce and topped with cinnamon. YUM. Please go there now for dessert – I wish I had more!

Great customer service, delicious meals and dessert, overall a great place.

Support local businesses! This one is one of them!

– Acceptable wait time on weekends. We waited about 10 minutes for a table.
– Every table has moist wipes.
– Chips are quite salty but you get a generous serving.
– The presentation for taco was quite sloppy. The tortilla was soaked in liquid and turned soggy quickly.

EDIT: Plus 1 star because the owner reached out and cares about customer feedback and experience. It is not easy to keep restaurants operational during COVID pandemic.

High Tide Taco Bar is a small, cute restaurant located on Mai Street in the heart of Farmingdale, NY.  The beach like decor is festive and the establishment was extremely clean. The service was fantastic. The staff is very nice and definitely willing to please.

The Margaritas were delicious. The Mango Margarita had nice chunks of mango. The Strawberry Basil Margarita was a delightful surprise. The basil complimented the strawberry very nicely. The fish taco offered a nice piece of cod as did the seared tuna. The buffalo chicken taco had a nice kick. The Korean Taco was very flavorful. The churros were served warm and with a chocolate sauce.

The prices of High Tide Taco Bar are fair. The location is fabulous. The staff is delightful. The drinks and food were very good. I am sure I will be back  for a return visit.
