High Street Caffe

  4.6 – 429 reviews  $$ • Cajun restaurant

Social Profile:

In 1996, Proprietor Donny Syracuse was fresh off the tour bus and traveled around the world playing with “Arcade” (Ratt and Cinderella) opening for Bon Jovi. Wenner was then a sauté chef at another favorite dining spot, The New Orleans Café in Ridley. The pairing of this duo created a blend of Creole cuisine and rock and roll that further shaped the Purple-infused Caffe. It is not uncommon to find a tour bus outside the Caffe. Such guests as Ratt, Cinderella, G Love & Special Sauce, Poison, Dokken, and the Black Crowes have been known to pop in and party with the High Street crew. You can feel the vibe of High Street as soon as you walk in.

This funky stop serves a Cajun-Creole menu with exotic twists (wild boar, alligator) & weekend jazz.

The food at High Street Cafe is exceptional! Fresh tasting, amazing New Orleans style and solid portion sizes! But the service is exceptional in a family atmosphere, like a corner restaurant where staff and ownership know the customers and treat you like royalty…a must go for a great byob dinner experience!!!

I was cordially greeted immediately upon entering. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable. The Chef plated our meals so we could both enjoy each other’s dinner choice. We also enjoyed the juxtaposition of the alligator bites and beet salad. Great conversation with the Owner.

*Compliments to the Chef, this restaurant’s attempt to recapture the New Orleans hospitality down to the food was quite enjoyable. The staff was so great, from being greeted to seated, to bottle service, to menu recommendations.

Great food and atmosphere ( highly suggest the blackened alligator in the appetizer section of the menu) the drinks are strong which is always a good thing and if you order a shot prepare yourself because they give you a nice cup of love. The only downfall is because it is a smaller restaurant you may feel cramped and on top of everyone/ lack of parking. Other than that you will not be disappointed.

Great place. Food was delicious. Some of the best jumbalaya I’ve had. The owner (I think) Don was also the man. Real cool guy. Putting it on my short list of goto spots. 6 stars.

An absolute gem in West Chester. Off the main restaurant drag, but only a 2 minute walk from the parking garage. BYOB.

We showed up at 5:28 on Saturday, there were 15 open tables and we were told they couldn’t sit us because of 6:30 reservations. We were a table of 2. My suggestion, if the staff are that ignorant, the management and food are not worth it. Pass, too many better places that will treat you better in West Chester.
