I had dinner at High Side in Fairfax and everything was excellent. The Jumbo Pork Belly Rice Bowl was rich and flavorful, the Garlic Noodles with Grilled Shrimp had just the right amount of seasoning, and the Beef Noodle Soup was comforting and delicious. All the dishes tasted fresh and well-prepared.

The atmosphere is casual but lively, with a great selection of craft beers that go perfectly with the food. The staff was friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better.

Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for authentic Asian flavors in Fairfax. I’ll definitely be back

A brewery with some good food! A friend recommended this place for its Taiwanese street food, so I decided to give it a try. I sampled as much as I could, and while some dishes stood out, others didn’t quite meet my taste—just my personal opinion. The Dan Dan noodle sauce and beef pancake were excellent, with spices that were spot on. However, the beef noodle soup felt like it might have come from a central kitchen package. The pork bao was great, with a good size, but the pork belly had too much fat for my liking. The Three-Cup Fried Tofu had a sauce that was overly sweet, and the tofu cubes could have been larger to achieve that crispy skin with a soft texture inside. The lemongrass chicken had good flavor but was unfortunately a bit dry. Overall, we enjoyed the experience—it was a mix of hits and misses. The service and atmosphere were friendly and cozy. Give it a try if you haven’t yet!

Foos was quite good. Nice selection of Taiwanese street food with an interesting selection of beer. Garlic shrimp noodles were creamy and savory. Salt/pepper chicken tasted good, but could have been crisper. I would Def go back. Parking is a bit thin and the access road is not easy to see, but don’t let that dissuade you.

A must visit for anyone passionate about good food and outstanding beer.
The staff is incredibly insightful and provides great suggestions.
The take on street food generates unforgettable dishes and the tap selection alone is worth a trip.
There’s also an exciting array of four pack options to go!

The music is too loud; plus a lot of drinker; the portion is soooo small and not that Taiwanese street food; When I demanded some lemon slices for my server, she told me that they did not have; then, I asked for lime pieces, she told me that she was not sure but would check. She finally came back with lime slices. (considering they have bar in the place, how hard to get Lemon or lime slices?) The beef noodle is too salty and spicy. The portion is very small; The whole place worths the mention is UBE cake, not too sweet or expensive and maybe filipino dessert. We will not go to the place again. The next table couple had to wait a long while and demanded some water. Our water refill was slow, too.

20240510 Had a late lunch here with my long time friend. She loves the pork belly rice dish. It was good. Pork Belly was very tendered and I like that it’s cut in small pieces. Unfortunately, it was very salty. The dish could have more veggies. The waitress was excellent. They have a mice variety of beer options. I didn’t care the for narrow alley into and exiting the parking lot. It’s too narrow.

We tried this place in Fairfax City for the first time. They have a nice selection of beer and spirits. We tried the braised pork belly over rice. It comes with a braised egg. This plate tastes like home cooked meal. It was delicious! I would highly recommend this place! It tastes like my mom’s home cooking! Absolutely the best. The other plates were also delicious. We ordered the lemon grass fried chicken over rice with a fried egg. The chicken has a nice flavor and moderately spicy. The scallion pancake with stir fried beef was okay. I will definitely come back to try all the other menu items and order the braised pork belly again! It is the menu item and always consistent. If you like hard seltzer, they have Smooj and the Humble Bumble is the best if you like a fruity tropical seltzer water. They taste like spiked fruit juice… So delicious. We got the beef noodle soup, there are some flavor of anise in it is basically a very concentrated flavor of pho. It comes in a smaller bowl than the pho. The Dan Dan noodle is pretty decent You can add chicken or pork belly with it. It is pretty flavorful.

Three cup tofu rice bowl is pretty sweet in flavor. If you don’t like sweetness and prefer savory, then I don’t recommend this plate.

We like the fried chicken sandwich is really good. It has a little bit of sour taste from the Asia’s slaw with carrots and pickled daikon with cilantro adds an awesome twist to the fried chicken sandwich. It is very tasty! Come during happy hour on Tuesday and Wednesday and you can get it for 50% off.

They have happy hour on Tuesday through Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. lunch special include pork belly rice bowl and a fried chicken sandwich from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. for $10. You can check out their specials online.

We also got the dessert ube custard cake which was not that sweet and it was delicious. Can’t wait to come back here!

High Side is a very unusually interesting place. Its retro aesthetic on the inside makes it into a great hip brewery which definitely pleases my eyes because I love the retro design aesthetic. Combined the tapas style Asian street food options- it makes the place into a delightful experience.

Now let’s talk about service. I think it needs a little work but for the most part the level of courtesy is good.

The beer menu is absolutely fantastic and it is a great spot for a bunch of friends/coworkers to get together and have a blast.

Food – I think with food it also needs to stand out a bit more if it wants make its mark. That said I really enjoyed the tornado fries.

I will definitely have another visit with friends for sure.

This place is a little slice of heaven in Fairfax, VA, not too far from DC. It’s a combination of a high-quality Asian street food bistro with a well-curated craft beer taproom and bottle shop. The fresh ingredients that clearly went into the dishes is respectable. Sunny-side instead of scrambled eggs with the fried rice is novel and scrumptious. The presentation of the pot stickers as a giant fried pancake you must turn over or crack apart like a savory Crème brûlée to access the dumpling goodness underneath was fun, if a bit greasy. The beer selection is outrageously good. Highly recommend. And get some beer to go! Clothing and glassware merch in supply, but no stickers.

As an Asian, the food is not the most authentic but it is still not bad. The waiters are very nice and I like the atmosphere. But the highlight of eating here is the deserts, they are so delicious! I got the coconut flan and the ube custard cake and I enjoyed every bite.
