We stop into Hideout II every so often, and it’s always such a great experience. The bartenders are always nice, even the customers are friendly. We were in again on Friday for the fish fry and it did not disappoint — both the grilled and battered fish were delicious, and the coleslaw is always amazing. Just a heads-up that the fish can run out later in the night, so it’s worth going early or calling ahead and placing an order. Great people, great food… it’s why we keep coming back.

Went to get fish fries to eat in at 6:00 Friday night on 11/7/25. Ordered our drinks from the bar because the waitress was busy . When she came 3 of us ordered the fish before she remembered they were our of fish. As we were sitting with our drinks, we had no choice but to order hamburgers all around. Pretty much all that was left on the menu. They were the worst. One of the hamburger baskets was delayed because the cook couldn’t read her scribbled out order. Ended up being charged an extra $15.00 because the server could not read her own scribbled order. She corrected it, but you expect better.

Went to get a Fish Fry. They said they were all out of fish, not like it was late or anything (6:38pm). Then proceeded to order a soft drink. I asked what kind they had. They said “whatever kind you want”. So I politely asked for a Wild Cherry Pepsi. They said “we don’t have that”. So I will never return to this establishment. Just know if you do, be prepared to be disappointed.
Also they really need to hire a painter/patcher in there. Because it looks like rundown slumlord collage appartment, or maybe that is the esthetic. Cracking and water stained ceiling plaster along with years or smoke stain. One word, ew.

We moved to the Waupaca area a little over 2 yrs ago, checking out all of the fish fries and local pubs and we waited way too long to check this place out.
From the moment we walked in we were welcomed warmly, drinks right away and yes, we came for the Friday fish fry and no we were not disappointed.
Now I tried the fish: wife ordered chicken tenders and even those were amazing!
Now we did not catch her name but it’s Debs daughter who tended to us but her sidekick Taylor was equally amazing.
The bar doesn’t seem like much when you walk up, kinda looks like an antique store on the outside but once inside it’s huge and they were busy.
They do alot of carry out too but we prefer the interaction with the patrons and the staff. All were great.
Make this place a destination, you won’t be disappointed.
I’m not a big deal but I am Average Joe.
Are we coming back…heck yes.

The Hideout II always made and still makes very good fish dinners!

Ordered fried mushrooms to come out before our food but the waitress was too busy chatting then worry about bringing food out. They weren’t even busy by any means either. My chicken tenders were hot and my fries were just warm. It could have been better and it could have been worse too.

Food was delicious super slow on getting the food (1.5 hours) server wasn’t really nice to us and took forever to refill drinks. Was trying to take a picture of the front of the restaurant when leaving and got screamed at for accidentally forgetting to shut the door. Pays to be nice :).

Bartender was clearly drunk, our food was wrong, and amount of food for rhe price was very disappointing. Will NEVER be back!
