So my friend and I went in there, and we sat in the room where the pizza oven is The girl that was seating us we asked her if we could get the pizza first which didn’t take very long. I thought it would take longer, but then we wanted to order other things other appetizers. Well, she didn’t come back. She didn’t come back. She didn’t come back. She finally came back. We ordered other things. The pizza came out in like 10 minutes if that we didn’t have any drinks finally came back. Ordered a couple other things ordered drinks. She was nowhere to be found she never came back to see if we wanted something to drink we had to ask for our waitress. It was terrible and we were the only ones in there. she was not a very good waitress. We finally got up so we could pay our bill because she never came back. We ordered a Hawaiian pizza. It wasn’t bad and had some nice flavor., I ordered a quesadilla. It was probably one of the smallest quesadillas I ever ordered. It was not that good. I ordered the extra side of guacamole. It was not fresh. It was watered down. Do not order guacamole no flavor at all. Needless to say, I will not be back by the way the little men were good

Wow, is what we experienced at this hidden gem of dinning at Hideaway Restaurant & Pub!!!!
My husband, Michael and I were particularly looking for a local best at a new place where we would enjoy after our regular hang out at Rocky Neck beach state park. And we have found It here!!!
Cindy answered the phone each time I called to make reservation for 2 then called back to move it up since we backed up early and got hungrier than we thought.
We chose to sit at the bar for a good view of the whole place and the outdoor marsh. Kristen, our excellent server, greeted us and promptly getting everything we requested.
Do get New England clam chowder, seafood bisque, calamari, Ceasar salad, whole bellies clam dinner, wild salmon dinner and Haddock dinner. Yes, there were only 2 of us but I could not pass up whole bellies in season while enjoying my wild Salmon dinner. There was no room for desserts so you are on your own there.
To have gotten the best food, with exceptional friendly attentive service, cold beer serve with a glass from the freezer and the relaxing ambience were all met and exceeded our expectations. We will be back for more when we go to our favorite beach again.

So this place seems to be somewhat popular locally with some of Old Lyme residents. The Bar area clearly does a consistently strong business. I sat in the restaurant & had a beer which was served in a frosted glass which was great. I was also given a glass of ice water.
I was not bowled over by the food that I ordered unfortunately. It was towards the latter half of the evening though.
They served a Cobb salad in a taco shell which is fine but not standard.
I requested chicken fingers with the Cobb salad instead of grilled chicken.
I received 3 VERY HEAVILY BREADED chicken fingers (just like the type you get at a Chinese restaurant – which I am not a fan of at all).
So that alone was a bit odd.
The iceberg lettuce, grape tomatoes, red onion were good: Extremely fresh.
No blue cheese sprinkles though.
It was mild cheddar cheese instead which is fine.
I removed all the breading from the chicken fingers but then just finally gave up. The salad was fine without the chicken fingers although it was a bit boring.
The pizzas in the photos look good so maybe gravitate towards that.
Based on my visit, I suggest people stick to extremely simple menu items & not too expect too much.
Maybe pizza or burgers, fries & a drink.
(I would ask if they are fresh though- they could be frozen).

The interior is old 1970’s bar restaurants decor & furnishings so def retro. A lot of chrome & mauve. I don’t find there to be an overly strong ambiance.
The music was country & western pop at a moderate level which was okay but it didn’t really add much to the atmosphere. I am not a big fan of that genre but appreciate some CW artists.
Overall, I just wasn’t WOWED by this place. The food was perfectly fine but it just wasn’t delicious or super tasty.
The atmosphere was okay, but again, not fantastic.
I always try places at least 3 times to be fair. It’s hard running a small business – and a restaurant is very tough. So it’s important to give them additional opportunities.

I personally did not spend a dime on my food a friend brought me a turkey club with fries and a pickle. The pickle was just nasty. The portion of fries was minimal at best and the sandwich itself was nothing that would bring me back for more. Where is the meat? Would not recommend

My wife and I had dinner at The Hideaway tonight, and unfortunately it was not a good experience. I ordered a burger that was extremely sloppy, with juice running everywhere and soaking some of my fries until they were soggy. My wife ordered the beer-battered chicken fingers, which looked more like oversized sweet-and-sour chicken from a Chinese takeout place. They were overly oily, and not at all what we expected.
The food also took quite a while to arrive, even though the restaurant didn’t seem particularly busy. To top it off, soda was $3.50 with no free refills, which feels excessive given the overall quality of the meal.
Service wasn’t bad, but we left very disappointed and won’t be returning.

We love it here. Staff are friendly, drinks are great and food is very good. We went on wing night and the prices for wings were very good and wings were tasty. I asked for well done and they were more like regular done, but this was a very minor thing. We will definitely be back!

We had a church luncheon here, and I have never been. It’s definitely hiding away as location. In the corner, I would’ve never known it was their unless I was purposely going. Not a lot of people inside but sat all our group no problem. Ordered many meals, one waiter/ bar tender taking orders. My meal tasted good, I heard no complaints from anyone. I got a tuna melt with sweet potato fries. They had no problems tweaking the menu due to allergies or just wanted it a different way. Nice time

We had a graduation party of 18 and did the buffet style dinner. Everything tasted very good. We brought our own cake and decorations. We had plenty of time to set up!

Hometown spot. We used to have a grand Christmas celebration on December 23rd. New ownership has decided they don’t want to endorse any Christmas magic. Totally their call but it certainly seems like the place has gone down hill in service, atmosphere and food. The staff is kind and trying but has bad guidance from ownership.
