For breakfast, the restaurant has a plentiful, fresh hot food. I was able to call from the room and place a To Go order. It was ready in less than 10 minutes, and we walked over to pick it up. The Mountaineer breakfast lasted me 3 breakfasts in my room (I had brought a plastic container from home for leftovers for the mini-fridge). The breakfast has sausage gray and biscuits, two sausages (could have gotten bacon), two scrambled eggs, potatoes, and three small pancakes.

Old time lodge/restaurant vibe with metal lights and bare wood chairs. Too bad the drinks anthe food was dreadful. I ordered an old fashioned, a signature drink on the menu. The waitress didn’t know the type of bourbon and the short glass was half full and syrupy. Yuck. The crab stuffed raviolis were lumpy, with heavy inedible pasta dough, a creamy crab interior and the whole thing was floating in oil. Didn’t like the merlot. A bad experience. Don’t go.

My wife and I went for breakfast and dinner. Both experiences were great. Great view. Staff was so so nice. Food was very good as well. The pretzels with beer cheese are a great appetizer and the croissant breakfast sandwich and custom omelet were also very good. If youre staying at the canaan resort or near by, I’d highly recommend. Ill definitely be going back.

Incredible view however my $14 omelette, potatoes, sausage, and biscuit were the same quality you get at a Hampton Inn free breakfast. Nothing made from scratch! All frozen, then heated and served. And all at very high prices!

The view is spectacular but the food and service was a disappointment. After bringing our drinks the waitress never came back to our table. We had to flag down another server to get our waitress so we could get our bill. It was not especially busy to warrant the lack of attention. I had the salmon. It was over cooked (very dry) and didn’t have any seasoning whatsoever.

Yuck!! Breakfast buffet was horrible. Potatoes old & cold. No seasoning on anything. Pastries dried out & hard. Best thing was the cold cereal. I paid $15 for a cup of cold pops cereal Never again!

Great view, not so great food or price. The wife ate breakfast here the day before me and said it really wasn’t so great. I went the next day and certainly confirmed that. The sausage tasted like it had been reheated five times, and everything on the plate was cold. Not worth it for a $13 price.

We enjoyed breakfast here while vacationing in Davis this summer. We weren’t sure what to expect after reading the reviews, but our choices were limited. Finding places to eat Monday thru Wednesday in the area is difficult! We were extremely happy with our meal. We did not expect a buffet to be available on a Tuesday. Not only was it available, it was very good. Other reviews had stated the staff was robotic and uncaring. Seriously? Not our experience at all. Staff was very attentive and quick to bring refills. Staff at the buffet asked us each time we returned if everything was good, or if we had any special requests. The view is very nice (imagine fall and winter is spectacular) and the lodge is sweet. Will definitely go back for meals in the future!

Our meal at the Hickory Room was very enjoyable. The food was particularly good, and the wait staff was very pleasant. The staff also paid attention to safety protocols (wearing masks and gloves). The view was spectacular. The prices were slightly high, but this is an area geared towards tourists. We would go back.
