We ordered the family platter, which saved us $7.50—so of course I added a 1/2 lb of brisket. After a 6-hour drive and a full day of hard work, The Q Shack was the perfect reward. And the banana pudding… the ideal ending to the meal. Absolutely delicious.

Loving this corner bbq joint with lots of windows, quick service and very tasty dishes. I enjoyed the brisket, mashed sweet potato, Mac & cheese and baked beans. I’ll be back to Hickory and Heart!

We needed a quick stop on our way home and love to try new places! However…
The bbq, hush puppies and fountain drink was ok.
The chicken and sides however less than par
Cole slaw was bland and chunky and had no flavor
Potato salad bland and no flavor
The chicken had a big gristle and that made me gag

Oh and my mom’s “baked beans” was pintos nothing about them was baked beans unless they baked them to cook them!

Absolutely competent but typical on this first visit. Since they don’t commit to a sauce, the pulled pork sandwich will always be dry in the middle. You can’t mix in the sauce on a sandwich!
Coleslaw was not a traditional minced style but shredded. It was fine, but felt like an afterthought. You could eat my Aunt Suze’s coleslaw by itself and be happy.
Very nice staff. Clean dining area and bathroom. Industrial dining room style makes this a lunch only place, you wouldn’t bring your best girl here for dinner unless she’s a hardcore Q fan in need of a fix.
We’ll be back. Really only 2nd in South End to Midwood. Will try other sides next time.

Great food and great people! We had them cater lunch at our office and we all left happy campers with full bellys! The owner and staff could not be nicer! If you love BBQ make sure you stop here!

When it comes to bbq, hands down this has the best flavor in Charlotte. Not only are the meats (pork, chicken, and yes even the brisket) wonderful, but the sides are delicious (my favorites are the fried okra and mashed sweet potatoes). The service is top notch and they make sure you are satisfied. I can’t wait to get back there again!

Staff was phenomenal, customer service
The food was great! Fries were on the ocean-salt Shaker side of things, with the chicken, ribs, and sausage being on the nice side. Mac was plain and looked like it came from a Walmart goodie box, but it tasted surprisingly well.
Heat and texture of food were nice as well.
It wasnt many people there, and we were served right on the spot!
Thus, I do see myself coming back!

The food is soooo good! Their brisket melts in your mouth and the hush puppies and the perfect poppable bite. The Mac and cheese is also delicious. With friendly service, this place is a total win!

The pulled chicken in great, a little dry which is to be expected from pulled chicken, but the mustard sauce is wonderful mixed in. The coleslaw is coleslaw, that’s hard to do wrong, but the okra is TO DIE FOR! I mean crunchy and creamy perfection. I will be coming back to try the pork and get some more okra. It is on the pricier side, which is also expected in the promenade. Don’t come unless you want to spend $25 on one meal.

Awesome place, with the friendliest staff ever. The home made sides are absolutely amazing and the meats are delicious, with the original Q Shack seasoning, grilled and smoked to perfection. I will definitely come back when in the neighborhood again.
