Despite its name, Hibiki Ramen offers much more than just ramen. This is my second visit, and this time I decided to try dishes other than ramen—and I’m glad I did.

I was pleasantly surprised by the great variety on the menu. Among everything we ordered, the yakitori and the grilled steak really stood out. Both were flavorful and well executed. The crab porridge was another highlight, impressively rich and comforting.

The soft shell crab was perfectly cooked and paired wonderfully with a cold beer. Overall, I’m very pleased with all the dishes we tried. Next time, I’ll definitely come back to check out their happy hour menu.

My family of 4 LOVE going to this Hibiki for Happy Hour Ramen! Not only great price and good quality, but it’s also very spacious and comfortable to sit and enjoy meals. I call it like “Asian Earls with Japanese flavors”. Highly recommended!

We had an amazing dinner here! We ordered three of their special sets, which came with ramen, salmon don, and a choice of chicken or pork appetizers — everything was delicious and well prepared. We also had two dozen fresh oysters, a few skewers, cod fish, and some handrolls. All were incredibly fresh and flavorful.

The restaurant is kids-friendly, not too noisy, and perfect for chatting with friends while enjoying a relaxed meal.

Do note that parking can get busy during dinner hours, but the parking lot is free, which is a bonus.

Highly recommend this spot for Japanese food and a comfortable dining experience!

One of our go to ramen places in Richmond. We almost always get the Kokuton Shoyu ramen as it’s tasty and a safe bet. The chicken kaarage is very good too. You can either enjoy it with the yuzu sauce or without.

There are other plates to try here, including the yakitori and more.

If you spend more than $100 before tax, you also get a $20 coupon for your next visit!

If the parking is full on the ground level, you can always park upstairs at the parkade directly across from the restaurant.

– We went there for lunch. We arrived at 11:30 AM on a Thursday. There were already two other tables there. Still, lots of empty tables were available.

– We ordered two of the “Hibiki Gozen” on promotion for $29 each, from a regular price of $35. We ordered one of each: Chicken Momo and Pork. Both were delicious. My wife and I loved them, although we both think the Chicken Momo is better as the pork skewer was dry and required some chewing.

– Is it worth it, you asked? At $29, yes. At $35, definitely not. The ramen portion was small, and the sashimi on the don was very thin. The meat on nigiri is 2 to 4 times thicker in most restaurants. Think of the ramen being worth $17 (or less. Instant noodle ramen amount). The skewer worth $4. The 4 pieces of thin sashimi are maybe $4. The rest is $4. Nonetheless, the portion is just enough for a medium eater.

– Worth returning.

They have happy hour menu 8:30pm- close. I enjoy both their black and white shoyu ramen, chasu was tender and flavourful. We also ordered their sashimi, it was fresh yet on the pricier side. Their yuzu ice-cream is surprisingly good, very refreshing. One thing i do hope is to have more food choices on their menu.

Service is very friendly but a bit slow, there was no staff around at times.

The ramen, accompanied by its flavorful side dishes, was exceptional. The oysters were notably fresh and well-presented, with a dozen available for $30. We anticipate a return visit. We also appreciate the fresh wasabi, a distinct improvement over the frozen alternatives offered elsewhere.

Hibiki Ramen Yakitori Bar

Garden City Plaza — 4771 McClelland Road, Richmond, BC V6X 0M5

Located at Garden City Plaza, this sleek and inviting restaurant delivers a well-curated menu that blends the soul of Japanese comfort food with modern presentation and thoughtful balance.

Fresh Oyster

The oysters arrived glistening fresh, their briny aroma immediately whetting the appetite. Each bite offered a clean, oceanic burst of flavor—simple, honest, and refreshing. The condiments were on the modest side, but the natural sweetness of the oysters didn’t need much embellishment. A touch more citrus or mignonette could have added brightness, but overall, this was a satisfying start to the meal.

Short Rib Steak Gozen

Presented with care, the short rib steak gozen showcased Hibiki’s attention to both flavor and aesthetics. The short rib was tender and nicely caramelized, its seasoning balanced and savory without overwhelming the palate. Each side dish felt purposeful, complementing the main element while creating a visually appealing plate. It’s a dish that’s comforting yet composed, with just enough flair to stand out.

Rating: 8/10

Hibiki Gozen

The restaurant’s namesake combo—the Hibiki Gozen—is where the kitchen truly shines. This well-rounded set includes ramen, yakitori, and kaisen don, offering a snapshot of Hibiki’s culinary range. I chose the pork ramen and pork belly skewer, both of which were excellent. The ramen broth carried depth and umami, rich without being heavy, while the noodles were cooked to an ideal chew. The pork belly skewer, meanwhile, was smoky, tender, and full of flavor, pairing perfectly with the freshness of the sashimi-topped kaisen don. Each element felt carefully executed, resulting in a cohesive and satisfying meal.

Price & Value

For the quality, presentation, and generous portions, the prices are more than reasonable. The Hibiki Gozen set, in particular, is an outstanding value, offering variety and craftsmanship at a price point that feels fair and accessible.

Verdict

Hibiki Ramen Yakitori Bar exemplifies the best of modern Japanese comfort dining—elevated yet approachable. The kitchen demonstrates a clear understanding of balance and flavor, while the service and ambiance complete the experience. From the rich ramen broth to the perfectly grilled skewers, Hibiki delivers a memorable meal that feels both authentic and thoughtfully modern.

This place has a great vibe, I really enjoyed it. Day or night, there is a cool environment here and the interior design is solid

Let’s get to the food. I had their Black Koku-ton ramen for $17.9, and it was delicious. I cannot say what exactly stood out to though, if we’re comparing to other ramen places.

Although, it did have a full egg instead of the usual half boiled egg. Props to them for doing that considering egg prices nowadays

The service was friendly, and our table was served in a timely manner.

I was a little disappointed at the portion size however. A little more ramen noodles wouldn’t hurt, but aside from that there are no complaints.

The restaurant and bathrooms were clean.

Overall, 4/5 stars. I would come back here again if in the area and mood for a good bowl with an even better vibe.

Craving for ramen and this one came up on my google search nearby so we tried it. Food was great. Pricing was fair just not enough choices for menu. Service just gave it a 4 because no table visits happened but staff was friendly as they greeted as nicely. And when we have questions they tried their best to answer you. Atmosphere was fairly clean. We went there for dinner and they are not busy.
