Our two Steak Hibachi entrees were cooked perfectly and the rice was very flavorful and fresh. Are here about 12:30. We were served within minutes and the employees very friendly. Five stars at least. 94 sanitation score. Thanks for a great meal!

This is the quintessential college food spot. While that is neither a good or bad thing in general it does mean a couple of things.
– food is cheap and the quality does not matter. What I ate was edible but far from anything considered quality.
– service was not bad but staff are a bit disinterested in anything but their immediate job requirements.
– cleanliness is lacking.
You can get a cheap meal here that has a lot of calories. Staff do their job. You may want to do take out rather than sit at a dirty table.
Great if you are a broke college kid, not a good choice if you are not a broke college kid.

Walked in and it was ok looking, tables could use a wipe but could deal with that. Went to order and girl was on her phone barely paid attention. Then when I ordered asked white or fried rice and said fried. Says nothing else then grab my drink after paying and stops me to sign. Ok almost 13 dollars for lunch with a drink, fine. Tip is on the screen of course. Hit the middle tip 15% for what not sure but whatever I’m hungry. Names called get my food and the cook is pleasant way more than the girl that took my order. Get my now 15 lunch meal and am starving. Open it, white rice. Whatever again I’m hungry. Start eating and veggies and rice are room temp at best. Chicken is chicken terrayiki and it’s like gelatin, no flavor whatsoever. Horrible. After 3 bites closed my box left and threw it away outside. First and last time going there. Feel sorry for anyone who walks into this place.

The worst restaurant experience I’ve had in years. We waited almost an hour for food that never came. The take out orders such a door dash, etc took priority over dine in.the people on the counter were unapologetic, the cooks were so slow and unfriendly when asked why our food took so long. Overall, I do not recommend this place at all! It is sad because my 2 kids are alumni of UNCW and they patronized this place in the past! I do not know what changed but I will not eat here ever again and I will discourage other families as well.it is simply disheartening!

First time here. I rarely write reviews. My zucchini wasn’t even cooked. I almost broke a tooth on uncooked rice. And I ordered my steak rare and got it cooked 4 times over. The rice that was cooked had a very verrrry odd taste to it. I don’t know. Good luck.

I have eaten here quite a few times and really like it. They usually have three or four people working and they get your order fast.
Today I went in and only one person was working. I did not even here someone in the back.
I got the hibachi chicken which is pretty good. What I got today was more like steamed chicken with very little flavor. Instead of onions cut up I basically got large pieces of onion like they cut the onion in half and took it apart into domes. Part of the onion was done and part of it was raw and very strong tasting. It was nothing like the food I usually got there before. I do not see me going back for a long time. Like never

I’ve been eating at Hibachi Bistro for around 8–9 years. When they’re on point, the food is fantastic—some of the best teriyaki chicken bowls I’ve had anywhere. But the problem is consistency. For every 11/10 meal, there’s another that’s so bad it ends up in the trash. The same goes for service: sometimes great, sometimes frustrating. I want to love this place, but the swings in quality make it hard to choose them with confidence.
The demand is definitely here—this restaurant could thrive—but the experience seems to depend entirely on who’s working that day and how long they’ve been there. A stronger focus on training and being selective about consistency could make this place as reliable as it deserves to be.

Arrived and understood they were busy, it decided to order. Food arrived and one of the orders was wrong. During this time the restaurant continued to get busier with to-go orders, but they agreed to fix our order and assumed it would just be a minute. 2 of the 3 of us have hot food to eat while one does not. Did they bump their only table actually dining in to the front of the line to right their wrong, no. It’s been over 30 additional minutes and she’s hungry. We ended up getting the order and it was wrong for the 2nd time! During this entire situation the staff did not act with urgency for us or the entire restaurant full of customers! I have worked in the restaurant business for over 13 years and I have never had such a bad experience to make me leave a a review!

Stopped in for a California roll. The young people behind the counters were some of the best I’ve encountered in a while. They cared about the customers, are fast and efficient and are very pleasant. I wanted water but they ran out of bottles so I was offered a cup. I didn’t want to waste the cup and asked if I could fill up my water bottle instead. No problem. They even brought orders to customers rather than call out numbers for us to pick up!

This was my very first time coming here. I went here on my lunch break today. I spent like $30 some dollars on two plates of food. The food was horrible. Not only was it burnt but it also it’s like they just threw the stuff on the plate. The meat was tough to chew and I ordered my steak medium rare and they cooked it well done. SMH. I ordered jumbo shrimp and this just looked like regular shrimp compared to other places. For what I paid for and the quality of the food it was not worth it. I will never go here again. Next time I’ll just take the extra lights and go to okamis. Least there I will be satisfied and get my moneys worth and then be able to take some extra home.
