Definitely a nice slice of Americana, food was good for its price, hot and fresh, the staff was friendly patient and inviting. It is definitely a place I will be returning time and again

Don’t get me wrong, this place is super cute and has somewhat of an old time feel when you step inside, but the food just isn’t very good in my opinion. My spouse loves the roast beef sandwiches so I was hoping that I would love them too. The only problem is that they don’t taste like anything. The ones with bbq sauce have no taste, the ones without bbq sauce have no taste and if you add cheese to either they still have no taste. Maybe its an acquired taste to enjoy it. Not for me though.

Driving in Hammond and saw this place and looked very inviting. Made a U turn and stopped in. Lots of variety on the menu. I got a beef and a pork sandwich. Both were flavorful and super sloppy with lots of sauce. I heard the burgers were even better. Going to try one next time. I’ll definitely go back!
Worth a stop, oh and very reasonable prices!!

I don’t live in Hammond any more but come through quite often and always look forward to stopping at HiHo. Today, the food was bland after asking for a pork with hot sauce but the service to our food was fine. Passed that and things get rough!!! Bathrooms were nasty and the trash in the lobby was over flowing! No excuses for this! Only one other customer in the dining area at 2:45 and plenty of employees standing around watching us struggle to put our on table trash away. What ashame! However, if they don’t clean what the customers do see, imagine what the kitchen looks like! Probably my last stop.

I usually go through the week but decided to go on a Sunday huge mistake. I ordered 2 cheeseburgers combo, guy who took my order said 5 minutes I waited for 20 minutes inside. They had only one person inside, trash was over flowing which was the first thing I saw since I had to wait so long. They was not busy at all . Then when I finally get my burgers OMG!!! Sloppy made and had a weird taste. The only thing was good was the fries and I had to tell them too cook them hard because they be so soggy!!! I don’t know who cooked on Sundays but this was awful and the inside was so nasty. Then the waitress right up front wiping the trays with a spray bottle and towels, but the lobby area looking a hot mess. I’m definitely not going back this was so nasty (food, service, and lobby) I miss the old cooks and older people working the front.

More like a small town Arby’s with 90 years of history. Not a smoke pit BBQ dive. Laid back dinner. Beef is roast beef, not brisket. No ribs or other BBQ joint staples.

A hometown staple, from my grandparents toy kids. It’s definitely a family tradition. Try the pork heavy on sauce, plane lays chips and don’t forget a cup of sauce for dipping ur chips. Don’t be a fool and forget napkins unless you enjoy having sauce everywhere.

Excellent place to eat. When we first walked in the staff was very friendly. We were in town for a travel ball game. The hamburgers were excellent. The drinks were bottled and cold. The fries were hot and fresh. The place was clean. I recommend it to anyone. The barbecue beef sandwhich had way too much sauce which made the bread soggy. Bit overall, I give it a 5.

Unbelievably good pork and beef sandwiches. Messy as heck but delicious and they provide plenty of paper towels at the tables. Don’t expect any fine dining accoutrements or atmosphere here just good food. If you’re hungry this is the place to go. Free advice would be to not wear anything you are afraid to leave with a grease or sauce stain.

Sandwich was okay best part of the place. Filthy and there were 5 employees standing at the counter just talking. Food on tables filthy trash on the floor. Literally no one e came out to check or clean the entire time we were there. Now there are 6 employees leaning on the counter doing nothing but gossiping.
