How lucky am I to have Hey, Sunshine Kitchen only a few blocks away?! I’m thrilled to have access to affordable wholesome nourishment, especially during the work week, and have fallen in love with their jackfruit carnitas tacos, beans & rice, and DIY bowls (always with the chickpea patty, always 2x caramelized onions). The fries, side salad, and brownies are also delicious, and my omni husband raved about his vegan chicken sandwich saying that it did indeed “scratch the itch.” Grateful for this gem!

Okay so this review is severely overdue and late and I apologize to the amazing owners of Hey Sunshine for that. My first visit (of many) was back in October of 2024 for my Billy Joel concert. What a great pre-concert meal. The staff couldn’t have been nicer. Then the food… WOW. Been vegan for years and this is hands down one of the best vegan restaurants ever. Even my mom who isn’t vegan loved this place when I took her more recently. It’s just the best vibes inside. You can’t help but smile being inside this positive atmosphere. What Jenny and Heather created is seriously something special here. I can’t wait to eat here again. If I didn’t live so far you can bet I’d eat there much more frequently. Oh and the prices are very reasonable!

October 16th. My bestie is on town celebrating her birthday and we dined at Hey Sunshine Kitchen. Had the best time.
She had the avocado crunch bowl with a couple substitubes. She devoured it and was so happy. I had the spiced hibiscus for the first time and it was well balanced. Delicious.

Food was good I ordered the beefy bowl, and a side of Mac and cheese. The bowl was good but, was lacking more protein it wasn’t beefy at all. I was not ready for the flavors that this lovely spot packed. I love this place. It has an overall good vibe and there are a lot of healthy options. The staff is super friendly and feel like they li e what they do. When you get a bowl, you can opt to have it with rice, salad, or half and half. When I first stopped by I tried the Fiesta Carnitas made with spicy jackfruit and some chickpea nuggets. I thought the bowl wouldn’t be enough because I was hella hungry. I was wrong. The bowl was enough. All the food was really good. I have gone back twice since then and I got the Hot Sesame Chickun Bowl. OMG it was so good. Instead of trying something new when I went back the 3rd time, I got it again. I highly recommend the Hot Sesame Bowl if you happen to visit in the near future as it is only for a limited time. I look forward to my next visit.

The brand name speaks for itself! “Hey Sunshine Kitchen “ is a hidden gem in Culver City that brings a smile to my heart. After a month of fasting off raw fruits and vegetables, I was on the hunt for a delicious warm vegan meal. It was a beautiful Friday, the weekend was here and my body deserved a reward.
I’m beyond grateful Google did not disappoint me. I am proud to say after the first visit, I found myself dining at Hey Sunshine Kitchen for four more visits in the same week. Delicious food, amazing customer service and intentional branding with the purpose of educating their customers about plant based foods will always be my main reason I keep eating at this establishment. With each visit, the goal is to try something new because every item on the menu is chef’s kiss.
My favorites are the Mac and Cheese, the Fiesta Carnitas bowl with brown rice as the base, the Chickpea nuggets, the Raspberry Lemon cake and the Mediterranean Chickpea sandwich . Hey Sunshine Kitchen is a 10/10 . Highly recommended! A winning recipe for success!!!

I don’t live in LA and was only there for about 30 hours, but had been curious to try Hey Sunshine so I made it my first stop. The man working there was so nice and helpful. There were too many things I wanted to try, but I went with the chicken Cesar salad. It was delicious!! and the portion was huge!!! My friend and I also tried the mac and cheese, which I really liked as well! Will definitely be back next time I’m in LA! (or even better, can you open a location in nyc? 🙂 Highly recommended!

Great Vegan restaurant. I ordered the mac and cheese and a build-your-own bowl. The chickpea patty was decent, but the mac and cheese was absolutely phenomenal. I also tried the hot chicken sandwich, which was good, and the strawberry mint drink is definitely worth getting. The bowls were fresh, healthy, and flavorful. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal and will definitely be coming back!

My sister-in-law cannot eat gluten, and she was able to eat everything that is on the menu. I loved that I could creat a bowl with whatever six ingredients I chose. It tasted really fresh and flavorful. It does not have much seating inside, but there are a lot of tables in front and on the side. It is a very busy shopping center, so you might want to come at off hours especially on weekends.

I’ve eaten at Hey, Sunshine a few times, and my husband eats there often. Every time, the food and service have been great. I recently ordered catering for my birthday party, and from the moment I reached out to inquire, Heather was super friendly and helpful. She answered all of my questions, and the ordering/payment process was easy and efficient, which I appreciate! The manager delivered the beautifully packaged sandwiches on time and let me know that there was a card in there from Heather and Jenny – such a sweet gesture that goes a long way! The sandwiches were a hit, and even my non-vegan friends didn’t believe me when I told them the spicy chicken was vegan. Everyone loved the food, and I cannot wait to order catering from them again!
