Reviews
We started with a refreshing and well presented amuse-bouche, after which our vibrant appetizers were served. The gnocchi was pillowy and served on an incredible tomato sauce, and the eggplant with buratta was a nice balance of textures, with a standout sour vegetable compote. Both us and the table next to us made sure to finish all the tomato juice with the bread, and some of the best butter (as expected in france).
The entrees were relatively simple and perfectly executed. The fillet of poultry had a really incredible gravy and chanterelles, and the pork and steak were the best on our trip. The meagre and vegetables exemplified their quality seafood. The entrees were not particularly daring or adventurous, but felt comforting and were perfectly done.
The earl grey poached peach, with ginger beer espuma and lemon balm sorbet is a dessert i still think about: light, refreshing, fragrant, and balanced. The chocolate espuma was both rich and light at the same time. This is followed by some nice mignardise.
Service was well timed and kind, there were sufficient staff to ensure people were always available.
The location of Hestia is quite touristy and this concerned me, but i was assured by the high reviews which are well deserved. While Hestia is not a cutting edge, adventurous experience it shows the highest quality of food in lovely atmosphere.
There were precise timing requirements, two separate table reservations – one for two, then one for twelve – and back and forth conversations about the prix fixe menu, ensuring each detail was accurate.
We could never have imagined how perfectly the night would be orchestrated by Hestia! Every compliment to this restaurant will surely sound like hyperbole, but I couldn’t be more sincere or accurate: this place is exquisite. First, the design is simultaneously minimal/chic as well as cozy and comfortable. Rough limestone walls, brass, velvet chairs, warm woods… refined and elegant without being ostentatious or intimidating.
Our dinner was downstairs – they reserved the entire level for us. Sean oversaw the evening, both serving and guiding us through each course. I could write an entire review about Sean alone: his energy, his retrained elegance, his sincerity as he shared their team held a meeting earlier to ensure each detail went perfectly, and his generosity, when the night ended, when he’d hand-written recommendations for local bars and music spots we couldn’t miss. Hestia quite evidently has a brand that extends from their building to their employees to their food; understated beauty, refined, show don’t tell, go above and beyond.
The food is haute cuisine minus the cold shoulder. Simple, with an emphasis on fresh, local, and each course replete with a story. (I know where their butter comes from. And the butter… sigh) The amuse bouche was delightful and surprising, the tuna tartare smoky and complex, our steak tender, the accompaniments stars in their own right, and dessert delicious as it was beautiful. The chef’s passion for experiential food was a through-line from start to finish.
They stayed open an extra 30 minutes past close for our party. Everyone said goodbye and congrats on our way out. It’s was just HEAVENLY. I’ve never had a dining experience be so graceful, easy, and just delightful. Thank you so much, Hestia, for a night we’ll never forget. You’ll be on our list of “cant miss” in Paris forever.
We sat in the lower area of the restaurant, and the atmosphere was elegant. I highly recommend for anyone looking for a wonderful meal.
Thank you.
I had lunch with my mother at Hestia, and from the moment we stepped in until the moment we left, everything was absolutely perfect. The service was impeccable, attentive, kind, and with an incredible eye for detail. The food was exceptionally flavorful, from the appetizers to the main courses. The attention to detail is truly Michelin-star worthy.
Highly recommended, especially for meat and fine cuisine lovers.
