Darn delicious. No frills spot with very limited seating, but fantastic barbecue. The rib tips are sooo good and such a great deal. Be forewarned that the hot barbecue sauce is definitely spicy, enough to get a little sweat going (but that’s how I like it).

Snowing in spring, I had a craving for food and didn’t know what to get. We chose to cruise north on Sheridan from Waukegan to Zion and we passed Herm’s BBQ, made a U-turn and decided to try it for the first time. We ordered the rib tips and a beef brisket the medium sauce was my favorite! Definitely recommend this to any BBQ lover in the Lake County area. The owner and chef were very nice too!

Let me tell you something about Herms BBQ. Small business, small building, employees aren’t very enthusiastic , prices change without notice. But My god can they make a rib. Something about the hot rib sauce that keeps me coming back. Fried green beans lit af. I used to go to hillerys on Lewis but they’re sauce tastes like ketchup now and Im not about to go to nogo. So Herms is that joint.
