Herman’s is the quintessential small town diner. A cozy dining area that seats less than 30, by my count. The counter, several 2-person tables, and I think there was a table at the far end that seats 4. I heard several people greeted by name.

My friend and I were looking for a good breakfast spot before leaving the area, and this diner was the best find of the day! We love classic diner food, and this place delivered. I was driving a van with a trailer and a motorcycle—parking was doable, but just barely. A few more cars and I would’ve been out of luck. Inside, it’s a bit tight, especially when full (which it was), but totally worth it. The food was excellent, the service even better—both waitresses were friendly, attentive, and kept our coffee full. Big shoutout to the two ladies behind the counter working hard on the grill. We’re really glad we stopped in!

This was our first time here. At first glance it’s pretty run down. The parking lot is gravel and it certainly isn’t handicap friendly. Inside was nicer than I thought. We sat at the bar which faces the grill and prep area. IT looks to accommodate about 30 patrons with half able to sit at the bar and the rest sitting at small tables for two people. The grill was packed with kitchen stuff. I enjoyed watching our food cooked but it was very slow. Our waitress was outstanding friendly and took our order quickly. My wife though the coffee was great. The muffins, eggs, and home fries were good but as other people have mentioned, the sausage gravy was very bland. I would go again if in the area. Prices where good. It’s not fancy and can’t accommodate a group of people but overall was an enjoyable experience.

Seating is a premium, but those same people are also nice, and very accommodating when seating is needed! Food, portions, and prices are exactly what I look for in a family diner. Delicious, homemade, and affordable! Swing by for a hearty breakfast, a juicy burger at lunch, or both!

Rosemary was so sweet and attendant. We stopped in Herman’s Drive-in before our drive back to Brooklyn on a weekday late morning. Everyone was so friendly, service was fast and food was good! We ordered the make your own omelettes and they were made perfectly. Our server Rosemary was very helpful and genuinely kind. As an LGBTQ black couple, it was a great experience in CT.

Let me start by saying that the food itself was very good. We sat down at 11:10am, was able to order food at 11:15am. We received our food at 12:05pm. Almost an hour for breakfast. While it was busy, the place is very small and absolutely inexcusable for breakfast to take an hour. Regardless, the eggs were perfectly cooked, the toast was done just right but the hash browns were mush and very oily. Some people might like it that way but I felt they needed to be crispy. The bacon was perfectly cooked. Everything had a small bit of char on it which was the best part. Small Town atmosphere, you know what to expect walking in. You know what’s being cooked because you can see it. Overall good experience.

Found Herman’s through a Google Search while working in the area. It’s the perfect homestyle diner with friendly staff and good food. Had the Cheeseburger plate with hand-cut fries, delicious! Diner staff very friendly and there were plenty of local’s around to have a conversation with. Highly recommend!

It was an icy day and we didn’t want to travel far so we gave this place a try. We were so happy we did. The food was absolutely delicious, the portions were generous, the prices were reasonable, and the staff extremely friendly. We will definately be back.
