Historic and nostalgic seafood restaurant located in the West End of Shreveport, LA. Family owned and operated since 1936 serving Creole and Cajun fare, and creating the world famous Shrimp Buster in 1945. Our menu includes crawfish etouffee, gumbos, hand battered onion rings, sauteed catfish and oysters on the half shell.
Herber Busi (Herby K) started a great spot, and we’ve kept the hospitality, high quality ingredients and recipes going since the start.
This local favorite is a great place to make memories with the family, bring dates, celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and promotions at work. Most locals will tell you…if you’re looking for somewhere that is quintessentially Shreveport, you gotta go by Herby-K’s.
Tiny family-run bar is a fixture for Louisiana seafood, notably fried shrimp, po’ boys & gumbo.

Be sure to ask the staff for their suggestions. Percy was so helpful and his faves were excellent choices. When trying someone’s fried catfish, I always try a hushpuppy first. If the hushpuppies are good, so is the fish. No disappointment here. The fried catfish has the perfect batter, cooked crisp, served hot. I’m sure this will ruin me for all others but the house tarter sauce was the best I’ve tasted. We also tried the etoufe topped sauteed catfish and it was absolutely delicious. Everything we tasted was hot, enjoyable, and each bite had us quickly sampling from everything on our table. This restaurant is a unique piece of history. Just ask. I’ll take extra time to be sure to include return trips any time we are in Shreveport/Bossier City. From two Crowes to the Flying Crow, thank you for the most enjoyable lunch!

If you want a Louisiana experience, that’s off the chain you must come here from beginning to end appetizers meals, and desserts are absolutely off the chain!!!!!

Lunch adventure here did not disappoint. The inside was smaller than we expected but there was ample seating for the four of us. Restrooms are outside. The locale recalls times of former prosperity, and the inside decor is pure nostalgia. There are many eye-catching awards, honoraria and mementos which can occupy the short time it takes to wait on your order. Kudos to the chef here. The popcorn shrimp appetizer are really dinner-sized, and the temperature was perfect. The burger had that seasoned-grill quality that tell of the many years of service. The only improvement to mention was the open window near the register which let in an outside stiff breeze. Our server was immediately friendly. The music overhead was appropriate and just the right volume. Will make this a regular stop when in NWLa.

Something you have to experience while in Shreveport. Friendly staff, Shrimp Buster was excellent. Be sure to add the slaw and sauce to it. Bread pudding was probably the best I’ve ever had. I’ll be back if I am ever in the area again.

Service was slightly slack. The gumbo was not as good as I remembered, but i should have ordered something different. The fried pickles were salty but good. The onion rings were good but I have had better. Great beer selection!

Food was excellent! Good sized portions, you definitely get your money’s worth. Service was the best; friendly staff, who regularly check in. Small place, but I love it. Overall great atmosphere, good music, and the place is kept very clean. 5 star all the way.

I had a good friend bring me here for the first time last night. Great food, great atmosphere, lots of history. “Shrimp Buster” was amazing. I would definitely recommend it! I also tried a cup of the “Seafood Gumbo”, it was also excellent. Thanks guys!

I hate to be the one to speak ill of an icon, but tonight was very disappointing. It was almost empty, but service was slow and inattentive. Everything we ordered came out wrong in one way or another. We had the shrimp and oyster po-boy. It had so little flavor that I had to douse it in salt and hot sauce to give it taste. The bread it was on was very good, so hoorah for that. The fries (which we didn’t order) were limp and pale. When they brought out the much-touted onion rings (that we did order,) there were four rings that were crunchless except for the rawness of the onions. Our friend ordered the etouffe/gumbo sampler. They didn’t have any etouffe, so they brought out two cups of gumbo. They could’ve asked if he’d like something else. The bread pudding we shared was very good, but for a mystery price. Everything took ages — off hand, I’d just say everyone was a bit too high. It didn’t seem like front of house and back of house were communicating. For the prices being charged, both the service and the food should be better. I’d hate to see Shreveport lose this place after 90 years, but they’re going to have to work harder to live up to their reputation.

Had the Gumbo and a glass of wine. We had pleasant/immediate service as we arrived & had our choice of seating. The place wasn’t crowded at all which was a plus. Soon after that we ordered our food. Restaurant was clean although the menus needed a wipe. The gumbo was delicious BUT I noted breaded okra (my fav) in it which a no no in my book. It tasted good & all in all I’d visit again as I wanted to eat different items but was headed to a late dinner & needed a snack prior to dinner (in a couple hrs).
