Review of Herbs Rib Shack in Mableton for barbecue and comfort food
Reviews
I ordered the Herb’s Special combo plate with chicken, ribs, and pork sausage, plus greens and mac and cheese. I also got the key lime cake and a few sides of the BBQ sauce.
It was my first time trying rib tips, and they were tender and flavorful. The sausage was good, and the chicken was perfect. The sauce was great but honestly wasn’t needed. I ate the meal over two days, and it reheated well.
The sides were okay, and the cake was good but it was frosting heavy (I’m a baker so I’m a bit more critical, you may like heavy frosting).
Overall, 100 out of 10. I highly recommend and will definitely be back!
I’m originally from Chicago and I travel there 4-5 times a year. BBQ restaurants there usually serve tips in orders of mini, small, large, and extra large servings. Compared to Herb’s Rib Shack, I received a mini order for the price of an extra large Chicago price!!
Even though Herb’s is very close to my home, I will travel a greater distance for good rib tips I found that are sold at a more reasonable price.
I’m usually a fan of wet ribs with a heavy sauce, but Herbs’ dry-style ribs totally won me over — flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and cooked just right. The mac and cheese was creamy and rich, and the green beans had great seasoning and some tender bits of meat that took them to the next level.
This place is a gem — simple setup, serious flavor. Highly recommend it if you’re in the area, and I’ll definitely be back!
I tried the pork sausage sandwich, and while it was “fine,” it was seasoned with the intensity of a gentle breeze. The bun selection was non-existent, and the one I got had a mid-life crisis and completely fell apart halfway through. Between the bland meat and the crumbly bread, I was basically eating a puzzle I didn’t want to solve. To top it off, finding a napkin was harder than finding a seat.
The only hero of the day was the rib sample. Those ribs were actually decent—tender, flavorful, and unlike my sandwich, they actually stayed together.
Come for the ribs, but bring your own bun—and maybe a folding chair and a roll of paper towels.
The service was top tier as well. Check this place out next time you are in Atlanta. Ribs were seasoned perfectly.
