Located at the Irvine Company’s UCI Research Park Campus, Herb & Ranch is a casual multi-dining concept by celebrated chef Brian Malarkey that will serve the campuses 8,000 employees for breakfast and lunch. Serving numerous culinary options from five stations, Herb & Ranch looks like a traditional food hall but operates like a fast-casual concept where diners order from the station of their choice and pay at a central register. Herb & Ranch will provide the neighboring Irvine office parks with a wide-variety of breakfast and lunch options and a constantly changing menu, helping them avoid menu fatigue as their work week unfolds.

Ambiance is food-hall meets café. Nice design, open, casual but with a more curated feel than a typical food court.
Service is fast but still personal, which is unusual and nice in a high-speed food-service environment.
Value is reasonable for the quality and setting. Not cheap fast food, but not fine dining either — mid-tier “fast/fast-casual” in a corporate/campus context.
The poke plate (salmon/Tuna poke) is Fresh, light, sort of classic Hawaiian-style poke feel. The spicy mayo gives it a gentle kick; scallion and onion add crispness and bite. If paired with their “Aloha Bowl” style, you get a mix of rice and greens, which balances the richness of the fish.
The seared salmon + potatoes plate is more of a composed, restaurant-plate feel. The salmon is cooked (not raw) with a citrusy yogurt-like tzatziki that brightens it. The smashed potatoes are savory and rich, offering a warm, buttery, herbaceous side. It’s a more substantial, protein-forward meal — great for lunch.
Great place for a meeting with plenty of bach style seating. Very well lit. Clean and great atmosphere.
Tried the seared tuna and it was amazing. Very fresh and perfectly seasoned. Brussel sprouts were divine. Moderately priced. And wifi friendly. Will recommend to friends and family that live in the area. Looking forward to my ext visit.
Pro tip if you’re coming here for lunch show up at 11:00 or 11:30 beat the crowds

(Fried goat cheese was new for us, but texture was good! And I think it went well with roasted beets and pistachio vinaigrette.) yum!

I was a customer seated who overheard the entire exchange between KimTheJ and the employees of Herb & Ranch. The employees were professional and stated multiple times that the kitchen closed and they could not serve her. Although I understand frustration of missing the kitchen hours, almost all restaurants operate like this, and I applaud the employees for their professionalism despite the continuous badgering from KimTheJ. Love the food and cookies here, and maybe don’t trust someone’s google review who gives 1 stars to almost all restaurants she visits .
