Steakhouse Cheeseburger: 5 stars. The meat was so flavorful and my wife (who is so picky) had a bite and said it was delicious. I asked our server to add grilled onions- highly recommend if you love grilled onions! The FRIES *drool* were perfectly crispy and so friggin’ good! The portion is more than expected, I only ate half of them.
Iceberg Wedge Salad: 5 stars. My wife ordered this and said, “You think it’s just plain lettuce, but it’s very tasty!” She did get ranch instead of bleu cheese. She also got a side of the Tempura Asparagus. I’m giving it 4 stars because my wife gave it a 5 and I give it a 3. I just didn’t like how greasy they were and to be honest I don’t like fried foods (except fries, lol!).
Garlic Rib Eye: 7 stars, lol! I asked one of our best friends who joined us how many stars between 1-5 and she said, “7 stars- best prime rib I’ve ever had!” It wasn’t her first time having it here and it’s her “go to” for sure. The little garlic clove pieces are scrumptious and the 14oz is a nice size for a delicious rib eye!
Server: I can’t remember her name, but she has blonde hair (if that helps). She gets 10 stars because she is the 2nd server EVER to bring me a bowl of ranch when I specifically ask for a “bowl.” I don’t want a side or a little dipping dish. I want a bowl. IYKYK! And this server did, so along with the great service, she gets 10 stars!
Chocolate Cake: 5 stars. Well worth the stomach ache I got from topping my meal off from eating this! I wanted to just take one bite since the server was nice enough to throw in a piece of cake on the house for my birthday, but it was so delicious that I ate almost half! No regerts. 😉
Hope this helps anyone reading reviews on this restaurant. Thank you for your attention to this matter. IYKYK… lol
FYI: Since they are only open Friday-Sunday at 5pm, you can make a reservation online.
We have been going here for about 3-4 years. We have always asked for and gotten Gabbrielle as a server…she’s flipping amazing.
I get the filet…it comes with mash potatoes, spinich and cruncy onions on the top. I get it without the spinich. I cant remember if it’s 6 or 8 ounces but it’s so thick that if you want it cooked medium well it’s going to be an extra 20 minutes. (I get it cooked medium…just perfect.)
If they have the fried asparagus the way it’s served is second only to the original Stockton Asparagus Festival. There isnt a bad desert in the house.
I’m sure Henry’s might be a little expensive for the average person but if you have comps from RedHawk it’s not bad at all.
One thing to remember…I have eaten at every spot at RedHawk and I cant complain about a single one. Every spot has an amazing menu and staff that works as hard as they can. You cant really go wrong in my opinion.
Our last visit we ordered the Ribeye special- WOW is all I can say. The presentation was minding blowing, but the taste was off the charts ( and we got two meals out of it)
The hostesses at the front are friendly and smile. I couldn’t say more great things about this restaurant. Make reservations, easy to do online.
The main issue here is the food.
2 of the couples shared wedge salads, they all seemed to like it, looked pretty basic. I had the French onion soup and found it to be good.
The reason for the 1 star had to do with what we would expect to be the main attraction, the main courses. Being an upper scale steakhouse you would expect near perfection. I’ll go couple by couple:
1st couple, guest of honor, each got the sirloin steak. Both like med-well however the steak came out more well done.
2nd couple shared a NY strip. They said it was over cooked but seemed to generally be ok with it.
3rd couple, one had the ribeye and the other the scallops. They didnt say one way or the other if it was good, not sure the one with the scallops knows the difference but they appeared to be overcooked as well.
4th couple, my wife and I, I had the sirloin and my wife had the salmon. I can only describe my plate as sloppy. Looking at some of the photos shared, it seemed it was thrown together worse than what the photos showed. I ordered my steak med-rare, and typically it will come out more on the rare side (the theory you can cook it more but you cant “uncook” it). My steak was pushing med-well. I thought maybe my plate was switched with my in-laws, but I had added the bearnaise (however what they considered bearnaise was anything but what I know to be bearnaise, wasn’t worth the extra $10). While my meal was at least edible, my wife’s was anything but. The salmon was way over cooked and whatever it was topped with looked like it had dried up sitting under a heat lamp. The risotto needed about another 10 mins, the rice was still crunchy. She was too nice to say anything and while I myself am not one to send food back, I would have sent that back in a heart beat. My wife did try her sister’s risotto w/ the scallops and she said it was cooked better than hers.
Trying to wrap my head around why all of our meals were over cooked, the only thing I can think of is that maybe the risotto was causing the delays for the food to come out and it all literally died on the pass. If that was the case, then send out the food that was ready, serve the salmon w/o the risotto and explain that it needed a few more minutes and they will bring it out. That would have been 100x better than what transpired (and I am assuming that is what happened, but I really don’t know). The restaurant wasn’t busy and we were not demanding at all. This place has been open for years, you’d think they would know how to properly serve an 8 top (7 total meals since two split).
They allowed us to bring a cake but charged us to cut it, fine whatever but seems a little tacky when you are already spending more than your average meal.
I came here with my family around when they first opened years ago and was blown away. This time, many years later, I was left very disappointed. The steak from cattleman’s down the highway is prepared better than what we were all served. For the money spent, I much rather go to Sutter St Steakhouse in Folsom, and their prices may even be less.
Based on other reviews, this doesn’t seem to be a one off. Hopefully they can figure it out, but I will likely never know as it is unlikely we will ever return here.
