We’ve been meaning to try this spot for ages, and finally, we did! It was such a pleasant surprise for brunch. Usually, it’s packed, but we went on a Wednesday, and we could easily find a seat.
The restaurant had a cozy, dive-like feel—small, tight, with a great view of the kitchen, and quite busy. The overall cleanliness was good, except for the kitchen area. The servers and waitstaff were working super hard, keeping up with both dine-in and Togo customers, which was really impressive. I especially love the outdoor patio area because in GA in October, it’s hard to beat for breakfast and coffee.
Now, the food was the star of the show! We had chicken and waffles, a side of chicken breast, and an egg. The waffle was absolutely amazing—light, fluffy, and melted in your mouth. I would suggest adding sugar-free syrup to the menu. The fried chicken recipe needs to be trademarked —it was that good. I can only think of two places that could possibly rival it: Mrs. Wilkes House in Savannah and Blue Ribbon in Vegas. The flavor was inviting and approachable, just the opposite of Nashville hot. I also had a side of chicken breast because the fried chicken is dark meat. The breast was marinated and reminded me of Asian Woks and soy sauce, which was good.
Overall, I’d definitely recommend this brunch spot. The only thing to keep in mind is the wait times and how popular it has become. It’s become a Johns Creek staple over the last 7 years. However, if you go early during the week, you’ll find a great spot, especially if you’re looking for something different from First Watch, Another Broken, or J Christopher’s.
This place is amazing. You first walk-in to a very chill place with friendly staff that is a wonderful example of sincere southern charm. The menu is small which is a good sign of expertise/mastery and knowing your depth.
I got the chicken biscuit and French brioche toast, and they dragged me into new depths of flavor; many fathoms deeper than I expected.
The chicken biscuit came with roasted fluffy red potatoes, wonderfully fried chicken thighs with the lightest batter as if tempura found a southern cousin, slightly sweet pickles that are the prefect match. As a heat/spicy fiend I needed only a touch of hot sauce. The homemade pimento cheese spread is amazing considering I’m not a fan. They won me over.
The French toast is mesmerizing crispu exterior and fluffy innards. The custard is not too sweet. This time was poached pears with a hint of cinnamon.
You will be happy here. This is worth your time and money. CHEERS!!!!!
We ordered the following items:
Bacon omelet (w coffee)
Grilled cheese w tomato soup (with orange juice)
BLT (with water)
In addition we ordered one plate of pancakes to share
The food portions were huge and prices was very reasonable. Once the food arrived, we realized we had ordered way too much food.
Pancakes were HUGE and very yummy
The amount of bacon in the BLT was surprising (we had looked as it was so full of bacon)
Bacon omelette came w yummy bacon. Also full of goodies
Only issue was that the tomatoe soup that came w Grilled cheese sandwich. The soup was very bland. Tasted like warmed up bowl of tomatoe paste. Looked great, but the taste was not the best
Also, considering how the restaurant was not filled(6 tables only), the place was hot. I asked to have the A/C adjusted, but they said that was as good as it got.
Personally I hate to eat when I am hot, so I took my omelette to go (hence 3 stars for atmosphere) and feasted on the giant pancakes (which were very yummy).
SO…..overall, good food, huge proportion and great prices. Would go there again (on weekdays as weekends, from what I hear after 10:30am, are packed.
