It’s my favorite stop for lunch when traveling to visit family in Southern IL. This old diner has been around since the 70’s and kinda looks it, too. Don’t let that scare you. The food is great and most of it seems home-cooked. We stopped on Sunday and the place was packed with mostly locals. We had to wait about 10 minutes but they serve quickly. (That was the first time we ever had to wait) My wife and I ordered the pot roast special and it was fantastic. It might be the best roast I’ve ever eaten as it wasn’t dry at all. It was cheap, too. Their pies are great but we didn’t have any room left in our tummies this time. I can’t rate this restaurant any higher for what it is, an old-school diner.

What an adorable place! Food was great! Everyone had something different and we all cleaned our plates. The staff were on it. Quick, cheerful, friendly, and attentive. The kid’s menu is a super great deal. All prices were great actually. Saving it to return on my trip back through.

I ordered a tenderloin sandwich from the menu, with mayonnaise. I got a fried porkchop sandwich with miracle whip. I waited to be seated for 15 minutes, when they clearly had several options, but, the wait staff didn’t notice me. That would not have been an issue if I didn’t have somewhere else to be. And they only accept cash.

The food was decent – Mac n cheese a bit watery, mashed potatoes were alright, fried chicken was actually pretty good. The staff was weird, seemed like they didn’t want us there, didn’t really engage, never asked how our food was or refilled our drinks once.

Very inexpensive! Food tastes great, portions were on the smaller side comparable to IHOP or Denny’s (with regards to portion) but size matched price? I guess. Waitress was friendly. Cute farm house vibe. If I stayed in the area again, I’d consider this place. Portions could improve. But nice cozy diner.
