While their beef, potato salad is really good and the beans have improved so much, I have continually been disappointed with the chicken. It always tastes reheated like it was cooked days before. Very dry. To be able to eat it, you have to smother it in the sauce. I will say the sauce is really good. One thing about chicken and many of the best BBQ places will tell you, chicken does not taste good the next day.

If, like me, you’re looking for hidden gems of Texas barbeque, go ahead and pass this one by. Although the food was adequate, it certainly wasn’t special. The owner bragged about his ribs, but I didn’t find them memorable. The chicken was ok, but tasted like a refrigerator, sauce was ok, but watery and had blobs of cornstarch in it, and the beans were undercooked. I think place had a good base, but got lost in its attention to the details. Atmosphere is country, and quaint, and family, but lacks warmth. When I walked in I didn’t feel welcomed, more like I was invading someone’s clubhouse. Ok for a local barbeque house, but falls far short of making the Best of Texas list.

We each tried something different. I got the three meat dinner. Brisket, sausage and pork along with 2 sides potato salad and coleslaw. Was more food than I could est at one time. So I took the rest home and enjoyed a good BBQ lunch the next day.
