Absolutely loved this place! My wife made reservations for our 20th year first date anniversary and we got a great surprise when we showed up that they were decked out like a Christmas pop up. The whole place looked amazing decorated from top to bottom it was super cute. The staff was amazing. The food was fresh, hot it didn’t take very long. Not a huge place a few booths and several small tables, which were good for an intimate dinner. Helen’s has been around as long as I can remember and it’s definitely a true staple of Richmond

I finally hot to try this place at random heading home to Carytown. Hollyn was great at the bar serving and Caroline was a nice add to the conversation since when I arrived at the open I was the 1st one there. Very friendly service and they believe in the food, which I’d usually refer to by back-of-house, but the kitchen is right there for you to see, at least gor cooking if not prep. I ordered the mussels which were perfectly cooked in an amazing broth for dipping bread. Chatted with one of the chefs, which was cool. It’s a really intimate venue and definitely a date night consideration even if I was scopingbit out as a single while my wife is running wine events in Florida this week. I’ll be back for sure. Great vibe, great menu, great chefs and food. Trifecta! 5 stars.

They have delicious food. However we picked this place because their menu seemed to have many vegan options but when we got there, our server told us that there were a couple typos in the menu and certain items were actually not vegan, including the vegan entrees. I wish their menu had been accurate because had we known that beforehand we wouldn’t have been disappointed and would’ve selected a different restaurant. Either way, their appetizers were delicious and I’d recommend the spot to vegetarians.

Dinner here before the theatre. Food came out very quick. Brussels sprouts, wings, burger, beef rib and duck were all amazing. Did not care for the mussels that were recommended. Staff were all very friendly. Friday night street parking was pretty bad, so be prepared to circle around and park a few blocks over.

We came in for my gf’s birthday brunch and yes, it was special. First of all, the over-the-top Xmas decorations were really fun and everyone was having a great time. Behind the glitz was the lovely cabinetry from the original 1912 pharmacy. I especially liked the wooden phone booth. The service was great despite the crowd. We had some delicious scratch-made corned beef hash, eggs Benedict, and Irish coffee.

Spectacular meal at the bar on a Saturday night. Hype about the unique mussel preparation is legit. We had several other delicious small plates, including a showstopper cauliflower and capers dish. Great desserts and easy street parking.

Excellent first experience at Helen’s. We tried the spicy bloody Mary’s and they were perfect! I would highly recommend the chicken biscuit. We LOVED the curried potatoes. The food is a tad expensive, but it’s worth it!

Fried Green Tomatoes: the star of our happy hour! The fried green tomatoes are very good! The appetizer is served with a generous amount of pesto and fresh mozzarella which elevated the dish a lot!
Corn special appetizer: generally tasty, but surely nothing to write home about. We were served a corn on the cob with whipped feta, which would’ve been fine if there was a specialty about it. For the price point it was not worth it, at all.

We went here for an early Valentine’s Day dinner. We picked it because it was on a ‘top ten’ list in Richmond. Man, what an understatement. Everything was exceptional. Every aspect of our food, the drinks, the service, the atmosphere. Truly a delightful experience and I look forward to returning!

First time trying and we loved this place. Excellent service all around and the food was delicious. We tried the brussel sprouts with artichokes a d the carrots for appetizers and they both were very flavorful and tasty. Main dishes were also excellent and the s desserts just right!
