We were glad that we picked Helen’s off a whim after arriving to Chadron. Great service and excellent food, it really hit the spot. Loved the steak, well flavored and perfectly cooked.

If you are looking for a home cook meal this is the place to land your feet for breakfast lunch or dinner. Hopefully when you walk in you are greeted with a big smile and when leaving asking you to come back.
Busy lunch 30 people with 2 waitresses and one cook.
First order was lasagna and looking forward to this but it still was frozen, so went next option the sausage Linguine it came in a Paul Bunyan size bowl this large portion was hot temp wise and spicy from the sausages.
If there is a next time I’ll opt for the Lasagna.

This place was recommended so we gave it a try. First 30 seconds inside and the young waitress said to sit anywhere but the older waitress said “ugh service dog” to the the first girl then pointed to a table by itself in a corner and told us to sit over there. Place was dingy and dated but still trying to be positive. The waitress asked us for our drink order and I said just a minute on that ( we prefer to choose our drink based on what we order) but she said we have pepsi products and tea so what can I bring you? (Can you say pushy?) We ordered drinks and then ordered the homemade lasagna but were told it was still frozen and we would have to wait 6 hrs. Went with Italian sausage linguine and breadstick. The bowl was actually huge- larger than anything we’ve been served before. The linguine was overcooked, almost mushy. Sauce was good. Sausage was ok. $11 dish.
We loved the portion size for the price but overall taste had us leaving half of it uneaten. Did not want to bring home leftovers. Will not be back.

Nice place for a quiet meal on a Sunday as most of the other options are closed. My deluxe burger, while nothing fancy was very good. The breakfast portions of eggs, hash browns was huge. The pancake came on a separate plate because it was so large.
Drinks are a little pricey at $2.25 for pop, but I guess that is the going rate.
Not fast service, but not slow either. About what you’d expect from a diner kitchen.
2 breakfast plates (eggs, hash browns, bacon and pancake) 1 deluxe cheeseburger, and 3 pops set us back $40 with tip.
All in all a good experience.

A great hometown local restaurant. The food was simple and perfect (we had breakfast). The decor was homey with antiques. The staff was friendly and exceptional. Highly recommended!

Helen’s remains to be the absolute best breakfast in Nebraska. Hands down. Always super clean. Sweethearts working there take good care of you. I highly recommend stopping. It will become your favorite as well.

Had the gizzards…. They were yummy. I had a sandwich too, but I can’t remember what it was because I was so excited about the gizzards!

Decided to try this restaurant because of the high reviews. That was a terrible mistake.
I’ve never waited so long, for such a disappointing sandwich. Yes, a sandwich. It took an hour to get a sandwich. It was really not good, a gas station could have made a better meal.
The best part of the meal was the small portion of chips poured onto the plate out of the bag.
Do not go to this restaurant, or if you do, don’t go hungry and be prepared to be disappointed.
