Just stopped in on our way from Bozeman to Great Falls. We were served by Daniel, and we couldn’t be happier!! He was quick, efficient, and friendly. He sparked short conversation, and complimented my wife on her Halloween attire. If you get the chance to go eat here. Make sure you ask for Daniel’s section. You won’t regret it! Thanks for the great dinner, Daniel!

The service was good, and the food was served quickly even though the restaurant was crowded on Sunday. The seaweed salad was delicious, but the Tantan and Tonkotsu ramen were just okay. I think when you have to add soy sauce at an Asian restaurant, it’s a sign that the food wasn’t seasoned properly by the chef.

Probably one of best places I’ve eaten in a long time. It’s a nice change from applebees and Chilis. We got the octopus balls and the seaweed salad for an appetizer. The octopus was a mixed review from the three of us. I loved it, my kid wasn’t as impressed lol. The seaweed salad was done really well, and even my kid liked it. We ordered the tantan, the spicy beef, and a Rainbow roll. Everything was quick, and better than expected. Is this as good as the Japanese place by Costco? I would say comparable, but totally different atmosphere and expectation. I would come here more often. Server was quick and polite, has a comfortable atmosphere, and more relaxed. Bring the kids, bring a few friends, and enjoy the time and food.

Salmon roll (rice and salmon only) had a good flavoring of sesame seeds. The rice was fresh and fluffy when depressed, not like caramelyzed rice that were prerolled and refrigerated. The salmon meat was like an inch and a quarter to inch and a half, a good bite full and quite fresh.
On to the garlic tonkotsu aka The Van Helsing! The white soup base was hot and creamy thick with a healthy dose of umame bone flavoring. The first spoon of broth immediately hit the spot. It reminded me of a mild French mushroom soup without all that corn starch thickener.
When tugged and stretched, the noodles retained their shape (not overcooked). A whole egg slice in half adorned the dish and had an appealing slight smokey sweet marinade to it.
The two slice of pork tasted like firm sweet ham.
Bamboo slices and baby mung bean sprouts gave every bite a fresh crunch.
Garlic and scallions were abundant but not overwhelming.
Parking in Downtown Helena is free after 5pm, on Front Street by the US Courthouse. Pay close mind to the parking signage. I was parked at Memorial Park by the Starbucks, which is free all day. It was a pleasant hike to and from there.
5 out of 5.

I ordered the Tantanmen Ramen and Chicken Karaage via DoorDash, and it arrived impressively fast in about 8 minutes. I appreciated that the noodles and broth were packaged separately to keep the texture fresh.

Unfortunately, the flavors fell flat. The ramen lacked the richness I was hoping for, and the chicken karaage was surprisingly bland and not crispy. I usually love the vibrant flavors you find in Asian cuisine, so this meal was a bit of a disappointment.

I’ve been here a couple times and have been satisfied with my experience. I won’t say its the best I’ve had but it does hit the spot when in Helena with limited options.

Helena natives love this place. I can understand why.

About as average as it gets. I will say that the portion sizes are really good for the price. The meal definitely filled me up. The food was pretty standard otherwise. Service could use a little help though, the wait time was a bit annoying, especially considering we only ordered ramens, which shouldn’t take long to prepare.

Not a bad spot if you’re stopping around the area.

Surprisingly good being in Montana. Spent 20 years in Seattle and miss Trappers but this curves the craving. Not cheap but we are a ways from the ocean so understand.

Had a pot of tea. The pot was amazing. They wouldn’t sell me the pot. Sad.

I got to spend some weeks traveling Japan a few years ago, and ate my favorite foods there every single day. My tastebuds have been in mourning since I left.
The food here wow’d me; I didn’t expect this restaurant to be so good. We got the Spicy Miso bowl, Garlic Tonkatsu, and Karrage. The soft boiled agg is a must. 5☆’s
