Social Profile:

We’ve always loved the simple, neighborhood bars of the Midwest and northeast. They’re there to serve the neighborhood – any and all. We took that accessible attitude and put it toward Haymaker. We serve simple, hearty food: Poutine and Comfort Sandwiches. Big, burly comfort sandwiches inspired by our favorite spots around the country. And tons of Craft Beer. It’s comfortable. We have TVs if you like sports, but we’re not a sports bar. We’re the kind of place you can go to a few times a week. We’re every day, for everybody

TV-lined saloon specializes in sandwiches inspired by different regions plus burgers & craft brews.

ASK AMY FOUND A MIDWEST PORTAL

We walked into Haymaker Bar on Manor thinking we were getting lunch…

Instead, we got a full identity crisis in the best way.

Because let’s recap my Texas experience so far:

THREE YEARS here and…

❌ No real Reuben
❌ No proper patty melt
❌ “Rye” that was basically bread cosplay
❌ Menus that didn’t even know what these sandwiches are supposed to be

Then Haymaker entered the chat.

My Reuben
Real rye
Sauerkraut ✔️
Swiss ✔️
Sauce ✔️
Built correctly (finally)

Husband’s patty melt
Rye ✔️
Swiss ✔️
Onions ✔️
Cooked like someone respects tradition

Tater tots
Crispy little angels

Fried okra
Seasoned
Flavorful
Not greasy

And just when I thought I was already emotionally compromised…

They have MULTIPLE Michigan brewery beers

I was already flabbergasted.

But wait — there’s more Midwest energy:

Pool tables? ✔️
Dartboards? ✔️

And let me say this again:

THREE YEARS in Texas…

…and this is the FIRST dartboard I’ve seen.

So not only did they bring:

✨ Real sandwiches
✨ Real rye
✨ Michigan beer

They also brought:

✨ Games that don’t involve a touchscreen

At this point?

I didn’t just find a bar.

I found a little piece of Home

Good food, first time ordering here, I ordered the spinach or artichoke dip and some garlic Parmesan wings, the food was very good but I noticed that I never get any ranch or vegetables with my wings, sadly I went back and read the menu and they only gives you ranch and vegetables on REQUEST anyway may e next time I’ll pay attention to the menu LOl
Please excuse my poor grammar

Me and a buddy went by to check out this new spot on Rock Rose. Had the steak special with crab and a bunch of tequila, as per a recommendation by the lovely Whitney Foresten, who was our server. Atmosphere was already great but mannnnn the steak was perfect. The ranch water… perfect. Phenomenal place and outstanding service.

Can we just talk ab this place for a second??? Omggg! The vibes! Total sports bar with TV’s inside and outside. Dog-Friendly! Lemme just say… Being from Wisconsin, we appreciate all of the WI menu items. We’ve tried so many pretzels in Austin and these pretzel tots taken the cake! The beer cheese was perfection and paired perfectly! Kettle chips = a homemade delight! We loved everything about this place. Our service and food was great. Even though it was Christmas, our server was more than pleasant and a wonderful person to be around. Will be back! ❤️

Delicious blue cheese burger with sweet potato fries. Bun was toasty, bacon crisp with burger cooked well. Staff was crazy busy but still friendly. Would definitely recommend to out of towners & locals.

This is a cute sports bar type vibe with a nice outdoor patio. I’ve been once for drinks and once for dinner. When we went for dinner it was a UT game — crowded but not packed. We were able to find a table with another group outside and shared the space. The service when it’s busy is a little spotty which is understandable but it was also a little spotty when I went for drinks and it was slow. I got a burger and fried okra. I definitely recommend the fried okra. Their ranch is spicy and amazing definitely need to get. I like that they have a lot of beer to try on draft.

Went there with family to watch football games.
There is not a lot of parking space, even if u get there early.
I had a very good grilled chicken club sandwich, and I loved the sweet potato fries. The rest of my family enjoyed what they ordered as well. The staff was nice, and the interior design is decent (what you’d expect for a bar). Would return.

Solid restaurant on the east side of Austin. They have a beer list with over 100 beer options that regularly rotate. For food, you can’t go wrong with the chicken wings. They have tons of TVs if you are a sports fan. There’s an outdoor patio and indoor seating as well.

Visiting from out of town and my sister took us here to watch the Lions game. This was the coolest thing I’ve seen in a long time. The entire side of the bar was nothing but Lions fans. Never expected to see that in Texas! I liked that there were multiple screens so you didn’t have to turn your head just to see. I feel like the tables could be arranged a little differently or smaller tables that can be put together if you have a large party. Everyone was super nice, our server seemed a little sad, but the service we received overall was great. Didn’t have to wait a long time for refills or to order a different food item. When I go back for another visit, I hope there is another Lions game because now I can’t see myself watching it anywhere else.

I’m giving this place two stars (not one) because the marinade on the chicken was perfect, and the pickled egg was spectacular.

However, on all other fronts, I had an awful experience with this restaurant. I’m not mad at anyone, but I am deeply disappointed.

I have Celiac disease. I ordered a gluten-free grilled chicken sandwich. The lady I ordered it from confirmed my order details verbally to make sure she had it correctly. Lo and behold, I got ahold of my chicken sandwich, very excited to eat it, and was met with an autoimmune reaction by the time I got home. I only took a couple bites of the bun before realising that it was most definitely NOT gluten-free like I asked for, but still. Come on, guys, step it up. Seriously. It shouldn’t be this bad. I understand cross-contamination is something that can’t be helped in a non-dedicated gluten-free facility, but this is just ridiculous. If you don’t have gluten-free options, take them off the menu. People with autoimmune disorders have a right to order food without fearing for their health. Thanks and have a good night.
