Tried this place for the first time the other day. It was a tad chilly but we wanted to sit outside and our waiter offerd up one of those heater things right away. So service was just top quality from the get. The building is very pretty and we really enjoyed the ambiance. Food was delicious although I had to take most of it home since we ordered queso fundido and chile relleno which was essentially eating 3lbs of cheese. But worth it because cheese.

Really nice setting. Been here a several times over the years passing through toen, never disappointed.
Ordered the Cadillac Margaritas. Chili relleno is delicious. The waitstaff super attentive and friendly.
The wandering mariachi band was the great touch.
Definitely recommend, main Street Park ridge is a happening place.

Decent food so so margaritas for us. Quality ingredients but flavors are not wow. Tacos, fried red snapper, guacamole or even premium margaritas ($15) all just okay.
I have try so much better than this. Place is clean and roomy service is excellent and food came out fast. Plenty of parking around the area.

Hay Caramba is a Mexican restaurant close to my home, and I’ve been coming here for years—though I stopped for a while because the service and food quality really went downhill. After taking a break from it, I finally decided to give it another chance, and honestly, it reminded me why I stopped going. The restaurant just isn’t what it used to be six years ago. The food quality has dropped significantly, and the service is pretty bad. The staff seemed rude and uninterested—they didn’t check in, and it just felt like they didn’t care.
I’ve tried many things from here over the years—chimichangas, tableside guac, tortilla soup—and while they used to be great, now everything feels mediocre. Even the complimentary chips and salsa were disappointing this time around. The salsa was watery, like watered-down tomato sauce, definitely not what I remember.
That said, the black bean and tortilla soup are still delicious—they’re probably the only things I’d consider coming back for. This time, we shared the combination plate, which comes with a mini chimichanga and a few other items. It was fine, but nothing special, and for the price, it felt overpriced for what you get. I didn’t mind paying more before when the food was good, but now, it just doesn’t feel worth it.
I’m not sure if I’ll be back anytime soon, especially with better Mexican spots nearby. If the service and food quality improved, I’d definitely give it another try, but as it stands, I think I’ll be looking elsewhere.

Nice place but food was not resturant quality and they have been in business over 30 years but something isn’t right. There was only 2 tables when we came in and we saw other restaurants down the street were packed. I was craving the burrito plate and was disappointing. Wasn’t even hot when I took a bite of the rice and beans and burrito had plain tomatoes and lettuce inside, I barely saw any cheese or sour cream. The steak had no flavor and was not hot. The salsa on the table didnt taste homemade.

We ordered takeout and spent $100. Despite the food taking 25 minutes longer than was quoted, every single item was cold. You could blame this on the drive home, but we live 9 minutes away.
Appetizer Combination:
This was embarrassingly sad. I run a restaurant and I would be absolutely ashamed to serve this to a guest. The loaded nachos consisted of four tortilla chips, there was approximately one tablespoon of guacamole, and the quesadillas were bite sized. Everything was cold and coagulated.. disappointing would be an understatement.
Burritos Suizos:
Disappointing would be an apt description, though not on the level that is the travesty of the appetizer sampler. Three flour tortillas which had very evidently never touched a grill, no beans at all inside any of them, with a small dollop of tasteless filling. The side of rice was hard and stale, again completely lacking in flavor.
We had an appetizer which consisted of grilled cotija cheese and vegetables. It was a cold brick of cheese slapped on top of greasy cold veggies.
My wife ordered a shrimp and garlic dish, which it seemed was assembled with a bit of thought and care, but again, was stone cold.
I would expect some modicum of pride in the food served, but that expectation was apparently much too high

This resturant is a gem! Have never been disappointed! After all these years still feels like a mom and pop resturant! Food is awesome! Drinks are good especially specials.
Carne Asada, chille rellenos, salmon, tacos,guacamole can’t go wrong!!! Best Mexican food around!!! Been a customer since 1996! Josephine, Bull ,Marlene,and Ruben make you feel at home and care about your experience at their resturant! Great atmosphere, inside and out! Won’t be disappointed!

Another “not my first time here, but first Google Review” for this place! It has been years since I last visited. Their Sangria is excellent and unique, and not pre-mixed. Tortilla Chips and Salsa, of course are served complimentary. The Salsa has a nice kick to it. Pictured here are two Steak Tacos and the Hay Caramba Combinacion. Both the Tortillas and diced up Steak pieces are nice and thick. Not salty. Would try the tacos next time with only onions and cilantro next time. The Cheese Enchilada that comes with the Hay Caramba Combinacion was great – melts in your mouth! Will be back more often for sure.

The food at Hay Carumba is consistently excellent! The carne asada is mouth watering and the burrito has fresh ingredients that taste great! Additionally, they have a really good salsa. It is perfect with chips, but I put it on everything there. Lastly, the Margaritas are very tasty with a big selection of flavors. My family and I have been going there for years, and honestly, even if the food was mediocre, we would still go because the staff is so friendly and treat you like family. It’s just an all around great restaurant, and I highly recommend giving it a try! Five stars!
