The carpaccio was lovely
For the main course, we chose the Prime Rib sharing option. As a group of four, we went for the 900g bone-in cut. The meat was cooked perfectly, full of flavour, and of exceptional quality. The accompanying trimmings were plentiful, with the Yorkshire puddings being a particular highlight, closely followed by the roast potatoes (although I would have preferred them a little more well done). The only disappointing item was the carrots.
We followed this with desserts, which I wouldn’t bother with again — sorry, but they were fairly average compared to the outstanding standard of the rest of the meal. One thing I would love to do on a daily basis, however, is buy the bread they serve. I’ve honestly never had bread that good.
The service was exceptional. Even though the restaurant was packed, we never had to look around for a server — they were constantly attentive and checking if anyone needed anything, which is very rare these days. The meal also wasn’t rushed at all.
The atmosphere was great: good music, not too loud, and although the place was very busy, it never felt crowded or like you were sitting on top of the next table.
The only other point worth mentioning is that if you’re having the sharing option along with a bottle of wine and water, the table felt a little small. I’d definitely ask for a larger table next time.
While drinking coffee, we realised we hadn’t even looked at the prices, so we guessed what the bill would be. Bearing in mind how exceptional the food was, every single one of us guessed higher than the actual total — I was personally £200 off. I’d genuinely say it was very reasonably priced.
Overall, we had a fantastic meal in great surroundings, and I’ll now be making this my regular Sunday lunch spot.
Thanks to everyone at Hawksmoor.
The service was excellent — the waiters were incredibly respectful, polite, and attentive, which really added to the experience. There was also a great selection of drinks to choose from.
The restaurant has a very posh, high-end feel and is on the more expensive side. The darker décor seems like an attempt to create a romantic atmosphere, which may appeal to some, though personally I found it a bit too dark.
Overall, it was a nice experience with great service and good food, and with a few small tweaks it could be even better. I would recommend!
Noah looked after us and was outstanding incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and helped us choose a brilliant red wine (highly recommend the Altos Malbec). The food was exceptional (rare to have steaks with a crust this good in the UK), but what really sets this place apart is the service. When a small issue came up, Noah handled it immediately and professionally.
He is a real asset to Hawksmoor, and it’s people like Noah who cement its reputation. We can’t wait to return for more great food and whatever you do, don’t skip the Rolos. Hawksmoor’s take on them is the perfect bite to end the meal.
